I just quit smoking!

I'm here because, I've recently quit too.

My tale: Smoked since I was 15, but only really got addicted at 17+. Then in 2003, I figured I had enough. Went cold turkey same time as my girlfriend (now shes my wife). Stopped for 4 years. My gf(wife) didn't though, she kept going back to it, but because I was an ex-smoker, I completely despised her tasting like an ashtray and that made her stop again. However, in 2007 she started again and I figured that I was 'strong' enough to handle one here and there. I was proven wrong and the addiction got me again.

It's not worth taking those puffs here and there.

Anyways, I went through the whole process to quit about 2 weeks ago together with my wife and even though she's acting like Eve, I remain strong.
 
My wife smokes too, and Ja its torture to watch..but as soon as I smell the stank on her it makes my resolve stronger..she's 10 yrs younger than me so I suppose she doesn't care as much as I do. Funny enough she stopped for more than a year when pregnant but soon after became a chain smoker!

Good to hear you're back on track.
I hope the little one is shielded from the 2nd hand smoke - it's amazing how few parents give this a thought.
 
You will find people have quit and gone back to smoking actually seem to smoke twice as much as they did.

Atleast with me thats how it worked :)

How does one shield our young ones from car fumes? just wondering if you have kids how you would shield them from sucking in smoke from the back of a truck, you would be amazed how few people actually think about this and concentrate on second hand smoke. Nothing aggravates me more than people who go on about second hand smoke, most parents do not blow their cigi smoke into their children's faces.

I thought that we are all working hard at cleaning up exhaust emissions with Catalytic converters and low sulphur diesel etc.

It appears you're suggesting that because we have vehicle exhaust emissions to contend with we can throw caution to the wind when it comes to protecting our children from 2nd hand smoke in confined poorly ventilated places indoors and in our cars.

Nothing aggravates me more than people who go on about second hand smoke, most parents do not blow their cigi smoke into their children's faces.

Most does not = ALL.
If you had read my post more carefully you would have noticed that my comment was directed at the few smokers that have a disregard for their children inhaling 2nd hand smoke.
"Blowing smoke into their children's faces" - smoking in a poorly ventilated place puts the kids at risk, which a few smokers do not consider.
