I Need New Car Advice

I found that the Polo's seats were not as comfortable as the Yaris and the interior seemed a bit more dated. It is the end of the year and all the factories are closed. So I can select from what stock they have available. I would prefer to get my new car before I go to work on Jan 4. Else I would have to take 3 taxis and walk 2km to get to work.

On the other hand, VW is offering discount on their current models as they are getting the new Polos in the middle of January. So I have to weigh the discount vs having a dated design. Secondly do I upscale to a better model or should I have lower repayments. The choice is not an easy one.

Toyota quoted me R178k on the Yaris. VW is offering 10% off of their current stock.

what ever car you decide to get, wait until the beginning of the year... so that at least you have a car registered in 2010. i bought a 2004 jeep wrangler for R150, i got more car for my money. air con, cruise control, Auto, the works...

so maybe if you look outside of the box a little you can get a good value for money car.

Good idea. I was planning to leave the car with the dealership until the start of Jan exactly for this reason.

Some people have mentioned the i20. I test drove it a couple of weeks ago and I liked it a lot, the handling is sharp and not fussy at normal speeds and the feedback (not only from the steering) is good for a car such as this. This does also mean that the suspension is a little bit hard (something I consider a + for what it adds to the handling). The handbrake is situated a bit too far back and the throttle response is quite sensitive.

The seats are also very firm, with the idea that they will not become saggy after a while and give good support when you're stuck in there for a long time, but if your bum is not padded you may find it uncomfortable.

The car does have all the expected conveniences though, radio controls on the steering wheel, aux and usb input to the sound system etc.

i20 is great car to drive. My grandparents bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. I agree with EvilDarkElf on this though, the seats are very firm and there isn't really any lateral support to speak off.
I don't think this car would be comfortable on a long distance drive from say CPT to JHB.

Have you looked @ the new Ford Fiesta?
