I need to get a tracking device

I think Google Now does that by detecting when you stop driving and start walking. I noticed it when a past phone upgraded to Android 6. My car is older and doesn't have bluetooth.

FWIW - I've never been asked to install a tracker by insurers, but I've driven only Alfa Romeos since I bought my first car, and their value has never been more than ~100k, so maybe I haven't hit the threshold to trigger that. Have been insured by Momentum, MiWay and Outsurance during this time period.

Same here, only drives Alfa, but my insurer never asked me to install trackers as mandatory items. And for those telemarketers, I also tell them I dont want a tracker, no matter how much a month they advertised to me. Then they tried to start arguing, and then I just end the call.

Some of my Alfas are more than R400k...

yep my insurance said only if car value is higher then 200k

My insurance has the same clause, only if car value is greater than R250k then a tracker has to be fitted.
With that said I got my tracker from Beames because they were the cheapest. Paying R69 per month.

You can't track your vehicle, you can only see the unit status from the App. I don't really car about the tracking since I'm generally the only one driving my car, I just took it from them because my insurance required a tracking device.

My insurance company wanted a tracker put in my car when I bought it (over R300k). I did the easy thing and got a new insurer.
