Blue dot is where my house is...

How much do I need to bride someone to get it to my house?? Thinking of telling guy I stay somewhere else then pay him just to pull it to my house.

I just want fibre :(

The other company is stalling to install the fibre now, because openserve seems to be ready to go pretty soon.

Johnny Walker Blue label for the installer and the fiber contractor if you can spot him. Plus 2500.
The price I paid. But if they launch and finish in the area it's not 1-2 months after the'll reach you

how did you manage to get roll out plan?

At least you have Openserve rolling out in you area, and will eventually roll out in your street and pass your house. Or another FNO will beat them to it. In my area - none of the FNO's I have spoken to has any plans for rolling out in the near future. I have only 1 solution (10mbps Openserve DSL) which is the fastest in the area. The bad thing is that less than 5km away neighboring suburbs all have Openserve, Octotel and Frogfoot fiber. Also not one company covers my area for LTE of Fixed LTE, and this is in an highly populated area with mansions and big houses being build. I keep my fingers crossed so that any FNO please come and build in my area.

Start the process go door to door and get signatures and you'll see. FNO line up for that list. Rollout happens real quick after that

Seems 2nd company is going ahead anyway and say we can expect fibre in July. Lightwire doing the install using the current telkom poles to save time and money. We forced to usa gigawave as isp until the network is completed and then it will be opened to other providers. Pricing is normal at R999 100mb up and down and 1099 for 200mb. So I should hopefully have fibre in next few months

I applied for openserve fibre i selected house 1 away from me maybe I get lucky lol

The other company sais start In june, but I dont see any work being done atm, atleast I can see openserve is rolling out atm so def be fore before the other company

Hang in there bro, Openserve will come! I would rather wait than be a guinea pig for a new FNO.

You could befriend the closest Openserve neighbour, offer to pay for their fibre, and get a cheap P2P system going?

Yeah I could dont know them that well but I know telkom techies in area, they outsourced so hopefully they use same company as before. Those guys are pretty nice and will pull the wire for me, as openserve will just be using the current telkom poles for fibre.

I think your problem is going to be on the admin/system side. If salespeople can’t see fibre is available to you, I think you might struggle. In some cases they will do it if you pay for the conduit and extra charge per m of fibre. But the Openserve technician will need to come to the party and talk to the people on the admin side.

Oh ya forgot admin side of things :(

But lets see I pay whoever gets me the fibre first

Update time!

The first openserve installs are live in my area, I also saw quite a few openserver trucks/bakkies recently. I was told this was just repair old copper line? Seems to be bit of waste money if you ask me.

I have placed order for house up in road from me which is over, which 1 house away lol.

Instead of using the house address I used farm 725 address as my farm number is also 725. In hope I can convince them just pull line 1 house further to my place.

Chat to the techies!

Rumours around my town was this one guy paid the contractors a bit of money to build a line when they hooking up the towers and ADSL to the Openserve backhaul

At least you are a house or two away from where they are deploying. On my side Openserve ended on our street, I live on the right side and they ended on the left side. I wrote them a long email and they replied after two weeks saying it’s a test to see if people will sign up, if they do they will expand the deployment. Luckily Vuma is busy digging but they are taking time compared to Openserve… I am just like you, I just want fibre, any fibre.

If your house is 15m from the nearest pole they should be able to make a plan

Yeah unfortunately this is up to them, for now I will just have to wait and see if Vuma will finish. I do however like the Openserve deployment of not digging but just putting poles. And I saw the left side of the road started being LiVE last week Monday/Tuesday and Vuma hasn’t started digging on my street, I will probably get a connection in November.

I had a long discussion with the techies at Openserve for you about your request. They actually said that it is possible to get you connected. So those black boxes where all the fiber of each house goes to on (every second or 3rd pole sits this box) they have connections like a 20 port switch for fiber now 1 is dedicated back to the manhole and then depending on how many homes are around it there should be 1-2 extra slots you can be plugged into. Sadly they need to get orders from the top because everything inside their truck for that specific job is tallied and if they are a few meters short they get docked pay. The best bet would be to grab the area manager/contractors' number and see if they can special order the line in or if it is one of Openserve 3rd party contractors then you have a good chance.

Openserve will be the faster one to rollout other FNO's do take time. Oh, and if a FNO is using Telkom poles without their permission the Openserve guys basically snip the lines and pull all that infrastructure off the lines and fine whoever was silly enough to rollout without permission on Telkom infrust.
