First off , big word up to the Old Man upstairs for keeping His hand over me - wasn't hurt at all - this is not sarcasm but gratitude.

Woke up at about 0200 - the @sshole - demanded my laptop - edit - @sshole doesn't know laptop is FUBAR :D - and my ANCIENT cell phone.

Gave it to him - and he buggered off.

Needless to say I love South Africa and I'm staying baby ;)

Not going to let Mr @sshole ruin my country

*awaiting certain I-TOLD-YOU-SO remarks from certain forumites*

Hey glad you are alright and not hurt. To be honest I am glad this isn't going to make you change your perception of South Africa. As I always say everyone to their own. :o

Yes, he'll be back for the new replacement notebook, and to take revenge after reading this forum.

The OP is obviously conditioned to expect this, but it's certainly going to be more stressful for our unsuspecting 2010 WC visitors.

I got myself a house alarm linked to a armed response company, at least if someone tries to get in the alarm will go off and wake me. Consider the same.

how did he know you had a laptop?

and good to hear you came out fine.
 
It really isn't all that great to have such an experience, but it reminds me of a house burglary by some guys with negative IQ's- they cut off all the wires from behind the computer box and took then took the screen, keyboard, mouse and the box.... try reassembling those then.... :D
 
Sad to hear.

Really happy you are OK though.

Makes us realise that material possessions are just that.
