i3,i5 or 965BE......

Geez 5850's are still flippin expensive. I can recall them for like 2.6k now i cannot find one under 3k.
 
No good price for the vapor x from what i have seen, geez the stock standard club 3d is the same price.

Awesome price dude, just shocked at the price increases. Would have thought they would go down in price not up.
 
Hmmm better cpu or name brand gpu that is not really much faster but they say has better quality? Tough call.
 
I really dont see the difference between name branded GPU's and Normal ones.. Unless they got extra ram or better clocks, You are just paying for the name and maybe bundled software. Which you don't really use? I'm happy with my club 3D.
 
The Sapphire toxic comes with a custom pcb, custom cooler and preoverclocked. It's not a standard card by a long shot. It's actually 1" longer than the stock 5850s.

Not all cards are equal. Some manufacturers skimp on crucial components just to improve their bottom line, whacking piddly little fans on their cards. Build quality also varies from OEM to OEM affecting the lifespan of your card.

The VaporX and Toxic Sapphires are really awesome. They have higher clocks, and better cooling allowing the cards to run faster, cooler and quieter when compared to a reference card. The club 3Ds however are good in terms of price. I always recommend VaporX/Toxic, and if the guy wants a standard card - Club3D.

So you are paying 300-500 bucks more for a slight overclock which you can easily do yourself? I dunno hey i am not a big fan of wasting money on pre overclocked vga cards.

I bought a POV 9800gx2 which was at the time 2k cheaper than anything else, still working even though people told me the POV is lesser quality that is why it is was cheaper. I think these brand names have done well making people think that companies like club3d produce crap cards that will burn out in 3 months :D which is far from the case.

Cannot go wrong buying the name brands but when you are sacrificing a better cpu then maybe.
 
Bought a VTX 5850 from Wootware for R2699. No complaints here, except for the new cash flow issue as I want another one now and crossfire it :) I also need to upgrage my board/cpu/ram as this topic suggest, I'm still deciding between an i5 750 or the 965BE. I'm leaning more towards AMD to go with my shiny new 5850.

People dont by the toxic for the factory overclock. The cooler is whisper quiet and keeps the card cooler allowing you to overclock further than what you would be able to get on a stock cooler.

I can hear the sounds of my HDD's over my stock 5850 cooler. It scared me the first time I plugged it in because my 8800GT's fan was 4x as loud running at 25%.

I think it will all depend on the new bulldozer architecture. from what I can find, AMD was going to bring out AM3r2 socket for it, but now it seems they making it for AM3.

So if you get that MSI board, I'm sure it'll last you long as you have an upgrade path. But are you sure you'll need xfire?
I'm speculating here but the 790 chipset should also be compatible? But i dont know what kind of bottle neck you may experience with it.. So it's up to you...
