Yeah I would think that the majority of the people in the Mac part have macs but it technically is OSX so this seems to be th correct forum to ask.

Just go out and buy the mac mini already. Save yourself the pain of the stolen OS and DIY hardware.

So get the iMac instead.

Last time I was in Incredible Corruption I was just overwhelmed by the masses of well made, high spec, and cheap OSx86 capable alternatives on the shelves. Oh wait, there aren't any.

BTW you not wanting to pay for a mac does not make them overpriced, just out of your comfort zone.

I think the only time a hackintosh makes sense is if you're running it on a 3k netbook. otherwise, just get a mac mini or even an iMac.. they're really not the expensive... and they look awesome.

They ARE expensive! Show me an Apple Mac computer that beats the specs of another computer where both are the same price?

Besides I already have it running on my netbook and my desktop, the desktop is just giving problem with the kexts.

You're missing the point. You don't buy a mac simply for it's operating system. Its the package deal. I can't really buy anything, thats not a Mac, that encompasses the same quality, usability, design and compatibility all in one package. For that I'm prepared to pay a premium.

Used / Refurb / Repaired

OK so please tell me where I can get a re-furb as per APPLE iSTORE --*IN* SA

Sent email to the "Leopards-Lair" but no reply yet -- weeks later.

I said -- send me a brokin one -- budgets tight -- I will fix it. NO reply -- MACS are NOT for "hackers" :(

R11,000 for a 24" MAC Cinema Display -- is THIS *PAIN* or what

Right On

Never knew it existed ???

Mail has been bouncing around the "engine-room" but the "flux density" must be wrong or something because no-one ever once mentioned this to me , or pointed me to the URL -- and wonders of wonders it is even a division of theirs

Perhaps you have even educated some of their "workers" :)

Thanks

You should be able to install SL without any hassles. There is a "bootloader" out allowing you to boot of original media without modifying it.

Installing Snow Leopard on a PC takes some hacking and the right hardware to be worth it. But if you've managed to get it working it's awesome!

It's almost as nice as having a Mac, but obviously not quite as nice.
