iBurst Accounts Suspended Without Warning

Remember what happened to Sentech? Everyone raped their connections for all they're worth and MyWireless flopped.. not a good idea to do that to iBurst as well cos if MyWireless and iBurst have gone bust/decided to stop doing business/push up their prices to cover bandwidth costs then what are we stuck with again? - Telkom.

OK I called, and this is what happened

first i spent 15 minutes on hold, which is to be expected, when I got through to Tshepo I was told that the usage is unreasonable, when I asked how can I get back to the network, he said I must pay for more bandwith. They will not charge for the amount I used but said I must buy more bandwith and I will be back on the network with unthrottled speeds till I go over what I bought. I then asked "so if I buy a gigabyte now, get back on the network and use that gigabyte by this afternoon how much will I be able to download when I am capped" his answer was "there is no limit"

I asked why is there a limit now then, he didn't know. I told him I wasn't going to pay anything and that I demand to be back on the network because I didn't sign anything liek this in my contract, he said "errrrm". I then asked to be put through to someone with authority, he had me on hold for 5 minutes, came back to tell me to hold again, another 3 minutes passed, he came back and said hold yet again because he was getting in touch with shaun green, 2 minutes later he came back to say he couldn't contact him and that I must phone him, so I did, my phone said I was put on call waiting and about 30 seconds later I was put through to his voice mail.

this isn't over, I will call again and again untill they put me back at no charge. As far as I'm concerned they should give me a GB for free for my inconvenice

Mad, we might as well go back to just having $hitty Telkom around. SA broadband will NEVER advance! I understand the 3GB cap is purely because Telkom rips everyone off with their excessive bandwidth pricing.

yepp, same old story, check the other threads :P

actually when I spoke to the helpdesk they said you must buy more bandwith to get back on the network or wait till May 1st. But heres the cracker, when I asked how much I can get while capped if I bought a GB now and used it by this afternoon they said "there is no limit"

and by the looks of it, even if you bought more gigs, your account would have been suspended anyway

I bought 6GB extra this month, now we have to pay for extra GBs to get back on the network but when we're back on apparantly once you are capped there is no limit to how much you can get, SO WHY IS THERE A LIMIT NOW

I wont pay a friggin cent

no it isn't, no where does it say anything about a limit to how much you can get while throttled, I read the contract, package pages and even pamphlets I got from a reseller.

They still say you can download as much as you want when throttled when you buy extra GBs to activate your account, but apparantly not this time.

Called them too and was told to buy extra bandwidth. The chick I spoke to said that there's no capping system in place yet and that's the reason why some users (RichardG) are getting slow speeds. I'm expecting a call from Shaun...

Dude...enough is a freaking enough...im getting ready to cancel!

you know what, Shaun is a good guy but he has 2 hands, 3 phones, 24 hours in a day and like 1000 unhappy customers, expect that call at 2AM

iBurst can kiss my ass. I already orderd my ADSL almost 2 weeks ago and yesterday I got my Linksys WAG54G ADSL wireless router.

My iBurst account is suspended because of "Excessive Bandwidth Usage". I only used 8GB's data for the whole month. What a load of ****e.

it means you download your 3GB or whatever, then get throttled and then you can download 24/7 for the entire month, whioch is what we were already doing but then WBS decided to suspend accoutns for nothing. If I buy 10GB now and use it al a few days how do I know WBS won't pull this extortion next week? or next month, or whenever they need extra cash, like i'm thier f*cking ATM.

The funny thing is there's a limit now but it's free-4-all once u buy an extra gig. LOL.

I tried the: I'll sue them for dis and dat. Their reply: Try it, well counter for R700K+ in damages.

MY thaught, if you can't sue these BIG MONEY companies, just tell everyone the truth.

MyWireless2 = WBS (I wonder if they have any shares in MyWireless1). LOL

yeah I was throttled since day 1 (or day 2 actually since they messed day 1 up), then as per the agreement I downloaded as much as I chose while throttled, they install some 15MB pipe suddenly my speeds dont suck all the time, and now I'm expected to pay. Next week they might need to buy the managers new palm tops, just suspend my account again and extort more cash out of me.

well thats what they're saying to get you to download again after you're throttled, that way they can withdraw some more cash out of you next week.
