iBurst Accounts Suspended Without Warning

Candygurl, re cut them off completely. Yes. That's why theres this fuss.
The Company cut up to 160 people off, and spread the word that these people were somehow 'bad' for just believing that they were on the slower service, and were downloading quite legitimately.

So this Company breached its contracts (I think) and cut people off completely, and then suspiciously made them ask 'in writing' for 'extra bandwidth' (in order to get internet service again.)

So my point re the form letter, is to make it clear that this request ISNT for 'extra bandwidth' - its actually to get reconnected - and its a lie for this Company to call it 'ask us for extra bandwidth'.

there system was not implemented properly so people who abused this sytem and downloaded over and beyond their cap caused huge network degredation all due to the incompetence of wbs.

wbs advertised 64k and apparently now this is working but i am not sure what the suspended people have to do to get back on the network. they would have to argue wether what they did was in ignorance or if it was abuse.

some people downlaoded huge amounts over and above their cap while others not much. it seemed wbs did not use proper methods of communication nor a certain amount of discretion when suspending some users.

now they are crying, sulking and stomping their feet which is 'meant' to be consumer action when in fact they are crying. sulking and stomping their feet without much consumer action taking place. ie loads of verbal masturbation.

Candygurl - they didnt lower anyone to 64k, and they TOLD everyone prior to this, that they HAD.

So suddenly a whole lot of users were just cut off from the internet completely, and told to put in writing a 'request for extra bandwidth' and pay the Company, before they'd be switched on again.

Now they're saying that 'users will be switched to a slower service after their cap' - as they originally promised in their adverts and Contract - but theres no proof that they'll do this.
The Company isnt sending any official emails to anyone, explaining what happened - or explaining 'how its going to work' from here, or anything.

There's nothing in writing from the Company to its customers at all. Just verbal stuff being said from their Helpdesk apparently saying two different stories now.
1. It was all a mistake and it wont happen again.
2. Its how things are going to be from here on - inspite of the adverts and the Contract.

So you can see that this is not a good position or situation for customers to be in - either the ones who got cut off, or any of them, in fact (although some of the customer who werent cut off, dont seem to see how serious this behaviour by the Company could be for everyone, a little down the road - if this is how they behave now..)

Candygurl..there you have it. I think that's a reasonable detailing of the situation - as well as perhaps explaining some of the factions and fighting on forum, from the different sections of customers - but all trying to deal with this weird behaviour by the Company, and find a solid resolution to this Company's behaviour towards its customers.
And to try and make it conform to what is generally accepted as 'good legal behaviour' by a Company towards its Customers.

So there's a mixture of emotions on Forum - disbelief and anger from some customers, and a certain smugness and 'I told you so' attitude from other customers, who believe what the Company said was 'bad behaviour'.

But the Company is putting nothing in writing, and not explaining itself at all.

And from a legal perspective, and that of customers rights and contractual law - this is not a good situation for an apparently reputable Company to place its customers.

People I know have e-mailed WBS to enquire further into signing up for iBurst, and wanting some general information that was not on the website. WBS did not even get back to them, I think they are under staffed, and the staff that ARE there are not too clued up on what the company is offering, and what they do. I think they need to jack up their customer service, it stinks!

Yeah, thanks guys! I can now safely say that I understand whats going on with people getting disconnected. ;)

Candygurl - no problem :)
Its useful to have had to explain it step by step, so that what's going on is able to be seen. Naturally its just my perspective on it, but I've tried to give a good overview :)

And that's what this forum is all about ... oh, and of course the bantering, fighting and name calling :D

Afraid, very afraid!!!

Logged in last night, rand a speed test, hitting 126kbit/s, now i'm afraid to log in for fear of being classified as a bandwidth abuser.

As an aside: I thought foreplay was longest, most involved and time consuming activity ever. Looks like getting online has userped that !!!

is it just me or are there alot more girly types on the iburst forum now?

Check this out. WBS leadership makes itself visible at last...

http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/int...?A=MAW&S=Mobile and Wireless Technology&O=FPT

One thing though, it states "Mtshali says about 90% of the company's customers only managed download speeds of up to 5Mbps, while the remainder – the alleged abusers – enjoyed speeds of more than 100Mbps".

100Mbps?!!?!?!?!? Is this a screw up by the journalist or by Mtshali himself?
