Hi guys i would really like to improve my iburst performance cos it has its off days and from reading around i think an antenna should help alot i get ok speeds but very inconsistant sometimes goes over 4000ms response time to local server. I am using the UTC(laptop pcmcia) modem that i got into my pc with an adaptor. Could anyone please tell me which antenna works best for iburst and how much it costs thanks for your help.

Region

I live in Berrario and use the Northcliff tower i have heard its bad but i need an antenna cos i get low signal and large error frame rate. Which antennea is best value for money and which is just straight out best.

We have used the WBS antenna and another one from a private supplier. The WBS one is a 9db gain antenna and the other a 18db antenna. the 18db antenna is also slightly cheaper. If you want more info you can PM me.

Ibursts normal flat panel antenna, if installed (alligned) correcltly works wonders
R465 Incl, from iBurst
Contact Shaun Green at iBurst and ask for the antenna to be installed

Hi thanks for reply how much is installation cost and do they charge more for a longer cable thanks again.

Just remember that the WBS antennas, even though theirs is only 9dBi, they are the only antennas (That I have come across so far) that have been peaked on the centre frequency of the iBurst carrier, other antennas that claim to be 18dBi are not peaked to the WBS frequencies, therefore they might experience a worse performance. I have noticed on my WBS antenna, when peaked properly, it does out perform many other antennas. - but then again, the 18dBi antennas are not that fussy when it comes to alignment they seem to be easier to install, and can use them outdoors

Another consideration:
The WBS antenna has a much more secure connector than the 18dB one. The 18dB one can wiggle loose and it is not easy to know that you have a good contact.

I get good results out of a yagi

I use a YAGI-0011 from Poynting Antennas at my factory in Fontainebleau which is in a serious dip. It gives me better results than the WBS flat panel (which I tested). Poynting are very helpful and have the correct connectors for the iBurst UTD. I was using Northcliff tower but now get better results from Randpark.

At home I use a parabolic reflector made from cardboard and cooking foil mounted on the UTD. According to iConnect C# it gives me a gain of 5dB which may not sound like a lot but makes a big improvement.

Thanks for all the response can you guys please post websites where i can look up the antennas and some prices and especially cable length thanks again.
