OMG I couldn't believe this... since the rain my iburst has been dead to me... so I phoned Iburst on saturday and asked if someone at the second level of support can take a look at it... The first level support kept insisting that my MTU was feked so I told her either she lodge this fault with the second support level or I'm going to hang up. She agreed and lodged the issue and gave me the support number.

On sunday my connection came back and everythign was flying again w00t. today I just received a phone call from the support telling me that they are going to try sort out my problem... given that I didn't give him a chance to prove that he's support would help solve my problem. I have to give credit to iburst... the support division seems to be doing something with regards to call backs.

I must say at least this is 1 step in the right direction.

hahaahahha that'll be the day!

Hey, fishfly ... I actually miss Iburst. Been on ADSL a while now, but already had problems twice in about 3 months. I've never had phone problems before (except a tree falling on my line!) so had no internet at times. You must see what it is like being on hold on Telkom. Lovely stuff.

I sometimes look at my Iburst doorstopper and wonder if it is time to reconnect as a backup plan.

k, soz to hijack your thread here but thought it be easier than starting a new thread for my question :D haha

How many gigs are you allowed to download over your cap before iburst decide to phone you or cut you off of do what ever iburst does? :p

I don't think they still do that after people here got angry. :) They reconnected those people afaik and I haven't heard anything about it since.

The "limit" was around 40GB when it did happen. I'm sure people did more.. but we would hear if anyone got cut off again.

thanx :) sitting at 30gb atm and i dont think my parents would be too thrilled with me if the internet got cut off :D

If anyone actually read and understood the terms and conditions they would think twice before signing up with that company.:(

They've covered every mm on their own butts and the customer really has no rights at all.

Ouch, hadn't seen 4.10 before.

Now that they have clarified their per MB charge, that's deadly. Plus your normal monthly subs and your parents would have a bill of R30000 this month. :D Wow they'd be thrilled.

Yup. I got my phonecall and then called them back. Told them to shove their account.

I don't want a "You have been warned, now you pay" invoice.

Their capping system is just too easy to tweak ;)

WOAH, never seen that before

I'm screwed if that takes effect :(
How can they reserve the right to do that if they offer an "uncapped" service at 64k after cap...

and gotta love 4.11 & 5.12 if im understanding them correctly...

I surprised that the conditions are legal, they have nothing to lose and the customer as well as his bank account is totally at their mercy if you care to read ALL the conditions.

In other words the "customer" becomes a "slave" with NO rights at all.:(

If i get an iBurst service from Vodacom - who handles the accounting? VC or iBurst?

Been thinking of getting a backup iBurst cheapie account with modem and then just buy additional gigs if needed but don't want to tangle with their accounts department.

Not sure who handles the accounting (as I never checked that far), BUT if you check this link below and read the line at the bottom "Standard iBurst Terms & Conditions apply" it seems you will be an "iburst slave" like the rest of their customers.

http://www.vodacom.co.za/iburst/packages.jsp

EDIT: Also check out the link at the bottom of this page "Acceptable Use Clause": http://www.vodacom.co.za/iburst/overview.jsp

It seems if you want the iburst system you are pretty much tied down like the rest of the suckers.

At a quick glance at the vodacom iburst section I'd say you will be dealing with iburst accounts department, it looks as if vodacom just get a "kick back" by getting a customer for iburst.

Also check out vodacom's Terms and conditions": http://www.vodacom.co.za/legal/terms.jsp

Just reading their "Disclaimer" section about third party services makes me shudder.:(

Damn, seems as if I'll have to stick to my mobile and Virgin sim then...

4.11 The subscriber indemnifies and holds the Service Provider harmless for any loss suffered as a result of incorrect amounts being debited in respect of applicable charges.
fek me that's deemed as theft! I mean due to their feking incompentent accounts department if they decide to debit my account of R10000 next month it pretty much means I'm feked. and I'll have to fork out R60 for reject amount???

fek that I just stopped my debit order! mother ****ers!
