Iburst Connection Speed

When it works...

I partially agree with your opinion.

When iBurst works it’s great, however if you have to rely on a tower like Gardens Centre and you have downloads speeds of <28 kbps, after it has been >1Mbps it kinda changes your opinion quickly.

 It gets worse when you call the iBurst call centre frequently and all they do is give you the run around and make you explain yourself 11 times and then tell you there is nothing wrong.

Well then what should your MTU settings be set to?

I agree with helicon that the Kyalami Tower is completely oversaturated! My speeds are worth flushing down the crapper - practically all the time!

Telkom does not offer ADSL in Kyalami - only 192k (which i will not settle with)...

With the amount iBurst is spending on advertising (Survivor, Magz, Streetpoles) they are definetly making a profit, which is why i can't understand why they cannot upgrade new towers..

New towers might be going up, but service levels are dropping.

Well perhaps.. I guess you are talking about these past few days and the problems in Cape Town. Besides that has you connection also been degrading latley?

Mine definatley has, but that is my actualyl connection, it now mostly stays on 3 lights, I think i messed up my antenna when i knocked it one day.. I'll have to readjust the thing.
But friends of mine in Cape Town still have great speeds and pings.. I guess we have a nice tower.

I think the only reason why service levels are dropping is that the Iburst towers are over crowded. They can only manage a certain amount of users at one time, and if there is only one tower in that area, of course you won't have good speeds.

Iburst probably don't realise this and they continue to construct towers in other areas, instead of building 2 or 3 more in areas with poor speeds.

I think iBurst is in a difficult situation here, and before they make this problem bigger, they need to decide what they want to do:

1. Do they roll out more and more towers in new areas to get more subscribers and more money;
2. Or do they make sure they keep the current 24,000 customers happy by making sure they get the same service and speed they had when they initially subscibed. And the only why they can do this is to upgrade areas where towers are over saturated.

Seeing that iBurst already have us as members, make sure to keep us happy. It will be easier to loose existing customers than to get new ones. And remember iBurst..........word of mouth is the best adverts you can get.

you guys are talking about lights and performance, and mtu settings, could you elaborate on this or point me in the right direction, i ran the speed test from the iburst site, it dont look that bad but when i want to download i dont get the speed that i should.

iBurst Cape Town down to a crawl....

I have spoken to an iBurst supervisor and he said the connectivity problem is with a Saix satellite? Therefore they are making use of a congested IS connection in the Cape Town area.

Phoned Saix's (EBSC) and they informed that they are not experiencing any issues, so to be sure I phoned Verizon and IS are both not experiencing any issues at present.

So why does iBurst not know what the issue is? I’m paying them good money for internet connectivity at the bare minimum they can at least tell me what is going on and when it will be resolved.

<10 kbps is not useable internet connectivity!

All sorted in CTN CBD...

:D
Just for those who don’t know by now iBurst CTN CBD is flying once again, thanks to the iBurst Technicians!

Ok, so whom do I speak with for a refund or the carry over of my unused bandwidth, which I couldn’t use during last week?

Any ideas, anybody?
