Iburst Future.

Who else is using your core?
The only people that don't is telkom.
WBS has what, 30Mhz in 2.6Ghz and if it goes well for them they will get 15Mhz FDD spectrum. you dont want TDD.
If WBS can scrape together a decent business plan and get some financing to rollout an LTE network it could still turn out well for them.
as long as they go with the right vendor....

The future of LTE is TDD. That is the only way to handle capacity. http://www.2020vp.com/hossein-blog/2011/12/lte-tdd-versus-fdd-debate/

There are two chinese vendors and two european vendors.

I feel they owe us a buy out option! But hey who knows if the LTE it going to work?

Based on the never-ending issues with accounts, (un)Help desk issues, etc., I have to say that iBurst would have to really do a lot of work to regain the trust of their old/current customer base. If it weren't for the fact that MWEB still controls my account, I'd have gone elsewhere long ago - would be too scared to give iBurst my account details, based on so many other people's experiences that have been mentioned here over the years.

Someone lied to you ;)

TDD is in no way as efficient as FDD, and if your network engineers are incompetent you will with out a doubt lose capacity rather than gain. That balance point in terms of the special subframes is tricky to manage.

Anyway, if you have TDD spectrum then yes, go with it. If you can choose between the two then FDD is the definite choice.

Where is the Swedish vendor? :P

????

Do you know anything about iBurst? Maybe the Japanese are better network engineers than the swedes.

Im referring to LTE here not iBurst technology. The discussion was regarding a way forward in terms of technology and this follows on the spectrum that WBS holds.

I am saying that, for any operator, if LTE TDD is combined with incompetence then TDD operators could face nasty surprises.

Both FDD and TDD have advantages and disadvantages, but in the generic case FDD would be the simplest to implement in terms of achieving higher throughput and in most cases greater capacity, but yes, this does depend on the case.

Not taking a stab at you or your colleagues Rooi, just passing on what I have seen globally.

And if FDD is combined with incompetence and poor planning then the situation is even worse. (or are you saying operators have more leeway on incompetence in FDD versus TDD?)

I think the FDD proponents are only creating propoganda as they have no TDD offering.

haha, no incompetence would render both useless, but that said TDD offers more room for the incompetent to make their incompetence known :)

There is only one real TDD proponent, and the reason behind this is quite simple once you look at their current addressable market.

Wow guys all I can say is look at cell c new package specials!!! Win win win!! Iburst start jumping.

Yes, I use both, check this.

Yes, but how often do you get those results - that's what really counts. I don't think many here have such regular quality from iBurst. My speeds are up and down, some weeks okay, other weeks absolutely appalling to the point where I try to log on a few times and then just give up and shut the PC down because it's so slow.

My iBurst is like that almost every day.

In my experience 3G, on all networks, is up and down.

Agreed 100%.
There are very very very few iBurst customers who get decent speeds on a regular basis. The rest of us sit with dial-up speeds or no speed at all thanks to them not upgrading their network to handle increased loads........

Source?
Of the total number of iBurst subscribers, very few are here complaining.

Their network seems fine. I believe your problem is local. Maybe iBurst are just being prevented from putting up additional base stations in your area?

Just remember that not all iBurst customers are on MyBB. I know 17 people here in Pta (personal friends of mine) who are also sadly using iBurst, and not one of them is on MyBB, yet they have the same issues with once decent speeds that went down the toilet to dial up. And they all stay in different areas in Pta, and 2 of them are near me.

Go look at their FB page and see all the complaints from all around the country, not just localised to my area. Also go look at Hellopeter complaints about them.

And their base station problem is exactly that, their problem. It is not my problem that they did not foresee a network issue to to increased load on towers in the area, could not give a damn about customer complaints, fail to give us what we pay for, hide behind BS stories about us being in a low reception area, etc......

Those Speedtest results mean nothing to me really...
We had 2+Mb/s even during the day, yet we now sit with dial-up speeds since December 2011. And we used to be able to watch Youtube vids at 720p or 1080p with absolutely no buffering issues, now a 240p vid take hours to buffer not to mention trying to download a Youtube vid to watch later will also take a whole day if we are lucky.

And we still have to fork out 800 bucks per month for their incompetence in giving us a decent internet connection.

Sorry, but their failure to admit that there is an issue in this area and their failure to fix it just strengthens my feeling that they could not give a toss about us being almost 10 year long customers.

Yes, you may have pretty decent speeds down there in CT and are one of the lucky ones, but what about the rest of us? Why must we sit with a crappy internet connection for almost a year already and they do jack about it? They fail on so many levels, it is not even funny anymore.

If they wake up, smell the early morning farts, give us what we pay for and give us our 2Mb/s speed back along with no Youtube issues and overall decent speeds once again, we will consider staying with them. But if not, March 2013 can roll around and they can shove this contract while we will spend our hard earned R800 per month with an ISP that actually gives a damn about customers.

Completely agree with this, I used to get awesome speeds
- Steam was fast as hell, with everything it does.
- MP games were not an issue.
- Http and torrent (at night) downloads were fast .

MY antenna has not changed position but everything has gone to ****.
- Steam refuses to connect now somedays, and when it updates.. you better be ready to wait for 4 hours while it does its thing. I connect my phone to my pc for 3g and steam connects in a few seconds, its quite laughable.
- Google searches feel like literal dial up.
- Cant play MP games AT ALL anymore without constant lag.
- All my downloads are sub 40 Kbs now wether its a PDF or an EXE or even a freaking JPG.
-It took about 7 mintues to log out of mediafire.com today.

Whatever got broken or changed does not seem to be able to be restored, or iBurst just doesnt care.
No idea wtf to do about it anymore.

Complaining about it does nothing to get anything fixed either, so why bother?

I decided to use that Firmware update for the 2mb modem that is on ibursts site, now things seem even slower.
Good job!
