Yeah I still have iburst been spending a lot of time on the iburst section of this forum, this should be my last month as i just switch over to a new ISP and speeds are amazing in fact 20 times better.
When looking at iburst apart from their services and support which is beyond bad their network is not too bad provided that you are close to the tower if you are not you will experience horrible speeds when the network is overloaded and adding an external antenna will not help you at all, my personal experience was ok speed during night's but during day time you can forget about it.
Not provided that a lot of people aren't even at home during the day i really don't know why the speeds are so slow, one would think that during the day when everyone is at work speeds should be quicker than at nights when everyone is home and online. Thus however is not the case and nobody most likely have any idea why.
The future of iburst i don't think they really have a future tbh I'm looking at cellphone coverage growing by the day and prices coming down so it's a mere matter of time before most of the cellphone providers will be able to provide you with the same price range package as iburst would at the moment I'm paying R300 more for the same package i had on iburst or still have but comparing the speeds i actually save money cause i spend less time waiting for stuff to load or download i was shocked to see a 10MB file download in 15 seconds use to take me 20-30mins on iburst.
Anyone that actually believes iburst has any future should phone them and get prices on their skyeburst it's hilarious R5500 installation and R600 per GB and just that proves alone that they have no future when it comes down to technology they have redundant technology we all see cell towers been upgraded all the time, and speeds increase, while iburst is still using same modems same old towers. Launching Skye iburts at those redicolous prices also proofs to me that whoever is in charge of iburst most likely lives in a cave and has no idea what competition means.
Now it's also unlikely to see new iburst towers cause lets face it who in their right mind would spend money implementing redundant technology, right now they just milking the cow till everyone leaves, unless they have some super plan on how to catch up and compete in todays market.
The big question is if they can't provide decent speeds to ppl far away from the tower and those ppl start leaving how many of those ppl will it take to leave before iburst gets into financial problems, and then those close to the towers will one day log on to find out theirs no more iburst and because iburst doesn't really say much about this issue of speeds we'd be a fool to believe otherwise.
The positive side is that ppl will stil be getting iburst simply because we all get burned by other ISP some time or another, wonder how many ppl got CellC 2GB offer only to find out they can't use it cause it's too slow so bottom line in this country we get screwed all the time by speeds and as a general rule I would advise against getting a contract from any ISP and always keep them on a month-month basis, Have a look at the market cell providers would launch an amazing special on a 24 month contract once they have enough customers on that contract they drop their prices or increase their Bandwith to the exisitng new packages only iburst I have to say when they increased their Bandwith per package and dropped their prices anyone could apply for the new tarrifs, so in a way it's also sad to see their network degrading like that, cause they just might have had something special going.
Final word of advise to Iburst before i leave just get your support side in order that will make a huge difference already, every single email you get be so kind as to answer it, it takes time, but your connecting with your customer and that is actually appreciated by a lot of ppl, sending emails to iburst and you never hear from them again that just doesn't go well down for I would say anyone using Iburst and i really hope deep in my heart you survive, cause i really enjoyed using iburst, wel enjoyed it 5 years ago
