iBurst Month 2 Month Contracts

If 500mb is all they are prepared to offer then I'd say rather give ALL USERS 128kbps after cap for now to hopefully keep most happy, and then work out some better incentive to be added in a short while.;)

This 500mb offering to contract users only was one of the biggest mistakes iBurst has made in so far as customer relations go.

Well Telkom have made the move over very easy now, and I'm really thinking about it. If I do the ADSL self install then I get the modem free and pay no start up cost. Then I move onto a month to month ISP and therefore have no strings attached.

I could easily move back to iBurst if they have some good changes. Right now I'm thinking of canceling and keeping the modem.

I've browsed on 384kb ADSL, and unfortunately it seems better than iBurst, simply because of the international latencies (especially in Cape Town) and the consistency with the speed and latency. The ISP competitiveness also means I could probably get more than 3 gigs per month for the same price (384 ADSL is only R199 more on Closer 4 than Closer 3 which we currently have) Being hardcapped is of course a big down side, but capped speeds were hardly usable with 3 PC's in the house.

I'm also thinking of cancelling my iBurst contract.

I'm using my Huawei HSDPA modem when I'm at the office & can easily just plug it in my desktop when I'm at home.

R399 for 2GB and the ultimate mobility....starting to make more sense than iBurst.

Even I have to agree. If iBurst doesn't come up with something soon, they will lose many, many customers. I'm boxed in on a 2 year contract though, so I can't just leave when I like.

Make no mistake, I'm quite happy with the service iBurst offers as my connection is pretty stable in terms of speed and reliability. Just the occasional issues with BS's being down.

Yet, if they can't deliver better pricing, MTN 3G is looking quite tempting.

As far as I'm concerned pricing can remain the same, BUT then we need some incentive to continue supporting iBurst such as what I already mentioned (128kbps after cap) as well as some sort of bandwidth increase for ALL USERS (again as mentioned many times) and not the tiny 500mb which I personally take as an insult offering.

I also do not care about a 2mbps speed increase since it is very unlikely that many users will actually achieve such a speed, probably only those very close to the towers will benefit from such an increase.

Another thing which should be attended to is the fact that right now not many achieve 1mbps and I feel those users should have iBurst test their connections and charge them only for the speeds they actually achive.

The above will not affect me since I do get +_1mbps most the time, but I feel other users can benefit from my suggestion (which probably has been suggested by others at some time or other).

We all know Shaun Green reads these threads as well as others from the iBurst team, so I challenge them to respond to our posts since WE pay their salaries.
No response means they do not have any intention of trying to please customers or try to be competitive in the internet price war.

I've spent a good few hours looking at all the ADSL ISP possibilities, its great what competition in the ISP market can do.

iBurst should have been implemented the same way it was in Australia, with no single "ISP" for the service. There you buy purely through a reseller of the technology who use their own ways of implementing bandwidth charges. They have extra cap after hours, 256 and 512kb connections for lower prices and much more flexible cap sizes. Too bad we got it the South African way... the Telkom way :(

Its funny how their attempt to keep users happy has backfired on them. I was actually happy that they were starting to do something, but when I found out it wouldn't even affect me and it was just another way to try and lock customers into contracts, it really put me off even more.

Yeah EHV, it's not only about you and me, if we all stick together they will have to start listening and get competitive or take a big knock.

If they start listening it could benefit both iBurst as well as customers, but things will have to start moving soon before it's too late to stop the damage it could cause iBurst.

They don't have any intention.. it's a waste of time!

Give them a chance as they also never had so many unhappy customers complaining and jumping ship before, maybe this time they will listen.

Ok VERY BAD WBS!

I know exactly what they are thinking I want THEM TO KNOW WE KNOW!

WBS thinks:

We are loosing so many customer but we are still signing up many that are not aware of all our problems.

Solution:

Make more people sign up into to contracts that way they can only complain and not move.

How: make the contract offer much better looking than the m2m one.

What does this have to do with competitors price dropping absolutely nothing.

It's possible they might think that way except thats very short term thinking which will lead to the end of iBurst since word gets around quickly and wbs/iburst will be known to stay clear of.

Anyway it's just speculation right now and if nothing happens or gets said in the next few days we'll know which route they decided to take.

I think iBurst have not realised that a huge majority of there subscribers who originally signed a 24 month contract are now on a month 2 month contract. There is no need for them to resign a 24 month contract to get a new modem and pay it off over 24monts again. they do not even have an option for a 24 month contract with no modem..

This rush to award an extra 500mb, whoopee, to subscribers was an attempt to save face in the wireless broadband market...

They can't look bad in front of sentech, they got a lot of ex sentech subscribers when sentech changed there packages..

Trouble is they actually made themselves look worse!

I picked up my Free Telkom Modem this morning and if my line is working tonight as promised then iBurst will receive notice in the morning....

Nailing the m2m customer was the final straw... I refuse to be in a contract and I get punished for it... bollocks...

Well this a turn for the books. My stay with iBurst has likely started its final journey.

If the crooks at telscum install adsl here soon, it's by by iBurst... product is gettin stale, overpriced, and future is looking bleaker by the day....
