On the 28th of November, I requested to have my account with Iburst terminated. I was thereafter informed that it will be terminated after one calender month notice - so effectively 31 December 2010. I am perfectly happy with this.

With dismay, I noticed this morning my account had been debited by Iburst for R487.
2010-11-30 DEBIT TRANSFER IBURST:PMT0001764489 R 487.97-

The normal charge is for R198 !
What kind of a business are these people running.
I noticed on hellopeter , numerous other similar complaints. What a pity, Iburst used to be quite good, but seem to be spiralling nowhere fast nowdays.

Zak

Zac, my friend. This forum is littered and I mean scattered with users who had similar encounters.

it's still less than 7 days since debit. Ask bank to reverse, then do an internet transfer or deposit right amount into their account.

Then put a stop order on for next month so they can't do it again.

Quick Update ....
As per venomous - contacted my bank and they reversed the debit order
Emailed Mr Rakharebe on Wed - Receive a phone call from a really impatient and rude accounts lady at Iburst. get nowhere.
Email Mr Rakharebe Today (Thurs) - Agree to get someone else to call. Really nice lady this time - Ntabiseng. Agrees to send me a recon tomorrow of how
Iburst arrives at that figure - but it seems there has been an overcharge.
Not all is lost at Iburst just yet ... there is still hope :)

Fixed...

Worse than I thought ....

Ok - todays update:
Look Im not out for a free lunch. Whatevers due to Iburst, is due - and I have no hassle. Just wanted an explanation. I migrated in October from Wireless start to wireless 2. so aparently, the extra charge was for that - they somehow never invoiced me that in Oct , so a double whammy in Nov. But that makes 198 X 2 at most = 396 - so how in the world do they get R487 . But wait thats not all... Now they say after scrutanising my account , they realise they forgot to invoice me in Jan2010 and Dec2009. so I must cough up for this as well. email below...

Please note that this account has an outstanding balance of R251.26. This is because once we looked through your account we noticed that the 1/12/2009 invoice was short and that in January 2010 you were not invoiced at all. Please refer to the attachment so that you can have a better understanding.

So ... isnt there a communications ombudsman or something that these clowns can be reported to ??
I, personally have recommended 2 of my friends to go on Iburst previously, but honestly, I dont think Id recommend my worst enemy to these clowns. Grrr...

Bwahahaha! Sorry, but I had to laugh.... It's so bad one has to choose to laugh or cry... Lesson is don't get iBurst to look into ANY account query because they might well discover outstanding charges they forgot to bill you for! Sorry, dude, I feel your pain. It does indicate that their billing issues are still messed up months and years down the line after similar complaints here.

They are probably taking the opportunity to charge you for someone else's usage.

Update 06/12/2010

No response from Mrs Gcebile or Iburst accounts

Guess they didnt take too kindly to accusing them of running a barber shop operation ...

Quite the contrary, they probably very chuffed with themselves now. Someone is finally acknowledging their progress from obscurity.

Success at Last

Light at the end of the tunnel. A bright young man, Shabeer Omar, contacted me. Explained the whole scenario. It transpires that Iburst charges for extra bandwidth purchased 2 months in arears. EG: on 30 Nov, I would be paying for Dec subscription fees and any extra bandwidth purchased in Sept.

Satisfied to some degree now.

Thanks!

Shabeer will be most pleased and impressed that he is young!
