iBurst problems update

Vooitog iBust...

Pay your license fees like everyone else does, and while you at it - stop lieing to your customers too!

I can't believe that iBurst even still have a userbase

I just hate it when internet providers blatantly lie like that. Power failure my arse.

You would be sick if you knew what providers tell their clients when they know what the real problem is.

But power failure.... c'mon.

"Lost connectivity to a major fibre switch" would of sounded better ;), LITERALLY

Wonder what their excuse for lying is going to be. Shows you how much respect they have for their customers...not that they had much of a good reputation to begin with!

We ditched their services maybe 5-7 years ago when the quality dropped to a level that failed our quality control

I see it like this:
Some PR guy asked tech whats wrong, the guys tried to remotely get into the machines, but couldn't as if the power was off. So they said to the PR guy "hey, we cant get there, the machine must be off". Jumping the gun for client instant info that we've all come to expect from twitter feed, he sent out a message saying the power is off instead of confirming the problem.

I wouldn't hold it against them.

There's a reason most ISP's would say "we're investigating the problem and will give you an update soon". It's much more honest.

So it took them how many days to notice that it was confiscated and not off? if thats the case their support is appalling.

Any decent network services company would do more than 1 test to determine if there is a loss of power or a network connectivity issue, if they were unsure the response should of been "the issue is currently being investigated".

Now, can someone please explain what a "core fibre switch" has to do with a wireless licence... So did Icasa want to kick them in the balls or just annoy them?

No, they perhaps had to actually drive there and see for themselves and report back, so perhaps an hour to notice it was gone. And then it's a real PR nightmare and best no go rushing and making more mistakes on the public communication.

The fact is, saying it's a power outage implies minutes (or at most an hour) or downtime before things are ok. A more intentional and better lie is "hardware failure that needs replacing", as that can be drawn out for days (and wont have MTN proving them wrong).

Exactly, not only that, how did they gain access and the right to do this without a court order? Can icasa just bust into mwebs servers and take those on a whims notice?

If this is the case, I hope iburst sues the **** out of ICASA. Sure, we'll be footing the bill but at least it'll make them think twice before doing such dirty tactics.
