iBurst Slooow Since Weekend

Yay! Back to Normal!

The performance on my iBurst connection has been restored to its previously brisk pace. Whilst running 3 concurrent multithreaded downloads, I still got a 600Kbps rating from the Telkom aDSL speed test. The improvement in performance is especially apparent when browsing the web, as pages pop up with much less labour than they did before. Latency is still crap, but atmospheric conditions are poor at present. Anybody else noticed an improvement today?

yeah definite improvement on the surfing side, but like you stated latency is ****e. I don't think it's the weather, during the december hols I went through some bad storms without a major degradation in latency.

Your line speed is approximately 960 Kbps or 117.6 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

speed test run during a fat thunderstorm... interesting... i always thought storms degraded my performance.

Telkom Test
Your line speed is approximately 94.9 Kbps or 11.6 kBytes/sec

GamCo Test
Your current bandwidth reading is: 112.70kbps
which means you can download at 14.09 KB/sec. from our servers.

SenTech Test
Your download speed is: 9.98 KBps, or 79.84 Kbps

You guys say it could be a Uunet problem ..
Anyone had a look at UUnet's site recently?

Its not what it used to be.

Maybe that could be the problem?

they were doing some router upgrades a while back. But nothing since. Sides it's I ping iburst which is local and probably on UUnet host and the pings are very erratic

Dude I have similiar results on online tests, been like this the whole year for me. Mine however are worse, GamCo generally scores me as under 56k Dialup.

I've taken screens of my results with signal strength at same time and sent it on to WBS via my reseller.

Apparently i'm not the first person to complain from the Dainfern area either, when I suggested Contention Ratio's as a possible cause, they told me no ways, not many users out here, which sounds a bit dubious anyway.

When did this whole Verizon takeover of UUnet happen? Was iBurst running on UUnet backbone? Maybe it's time to upgrade my iBurst for a 45mbps link from Verizon :D
