As always, these speed tests done with a 1MB Desktop Modem connected to a Flat Panel Antenna. No background programs that could interfere are running, the MTU is set to 1392.

1) iBurst Speed Test (Local)
Download speed = 0.22Mbps
Upload speed = 0.09Mbps
Ping = 53ms
Speed Consistancy: 39%

2) Johannesburg server (speedtest.net)

3) New York server (speedtest.net)

4) Combined Speed Test (testmy.net)

5) MYBB Local Speedtest
Test conducted on 16/4/2013 20:58:27

Download Speed: 221 kbps (27.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 87 kbps (10.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 156 ms

6) MYBB International Speedtest
Test conducted on 16/4/2013 20:59:33

Download Speed: 239 kbps (29.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 87 kbps (10.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 319 ms

These tests are interesting, considering that I was getting speeds close to 1MB/s before the whole Seacom and ICASA vs WBS drama. What exactly is going on, iBurst? And no, this is not a rhetorical question.

Yeah I am going to be downgrading my account to the lowest cap per month that I can just so I can finish paying off this 2mb modem asap, then I am out.

Sick and tired of paying these IDIOTS huge amounts of money for a USELESS service.

I was playing a lot of planetside 2 earlier this year, it was running great on iburst, at the end of February something happened (cable break? cant remember) that made the game completely unplayable, since then I have not been able to play planetside 2 at all, I was in the top 100 leader boards on my server.. you guys DESTROYED THAT ... thanks a lot *******s, I was having fun.

No point in paying you guys money for something I CANNOT USE FOR THE INTENDED PURPOSE THAT I GOT IT FOR. (playing games)

I am in a closed beta for an upcoming mmo, pretty sure that isn't gonna be possible with iburst in its current state

I also bought a flat panel antenna for xmas, before this whole icasa / iburst bullcrap it was working great that's a total waste now as the signal which is usualy flickering green decides to go red every 5 minutes which in turn drops my connection 90% of the time, this never used to happen before this iburst / icasa rubbish and I refuse to PAY someone to fix it. So now when I plug in my omni antenna its no better than the flat panel. (I had a tech guy come here and tell me a flat panel would be the only way to improve my speeds... which now seems useless since it flickers red pretty often.)

I find it hilarious that over the years ibursts service has started to get worse and worse...when the opposite should be happening...

This is ibursts fault .. iburst needs to fix it or be prepared to lose a crap load of customers soon.

Ok it's running now. Do you know how long a 1MB download takes at 0.07MBps?!

Test conducted on 4/22/2013 8:42:25 PM

Download Speed: 66 kbps (8.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 188 kbps (23.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 367 ms

The speedtest.net site wouldn't load.

The results of the speedtest on the iBurst site are annoyingly hard to reproduce, suffice to say that I only received a data consistency of 52% i.e. sound is likely to be broken. Fancy that!

I have not been able to access the battle.net server for about a month now on my iBurst connection. It's extremely poor service. In fact it's no service at all.

A hole 5min and 34 seconds between the tests and I run it strait after each other with maybe 15 seconds delay

Come on iBurst what is the excuse this time?

Did you know?? The SA Post office is faster to deliver the "snail-mail" with their strike than iBurst delivering an e-mail

Overall, the results are pretty average, or maybe even below average. I'm certain that if the base station wasn't overloaded, the speeds would be closer to 1Mbps. I've gotten incredible speeds a few times before, though that was mainly thanks to Eskom. When the power goes out for the entire day and only comes back at around 11pm, the base station is all mine.

I do have one complaint. Torrents will absolutely not download (not even a few mb) during the day. Everything seems to work fine closer to 12am, up until mid morning. I know that iBurst has allocated those hours to torrent downloads, but this is a bit extreme. I rarely use torrents, but I do remember being able to download torrents during the day, though it was at a slower pace. Now, torrents don't download at all during the day. Steam downloads are also slow as ever.

You can bypass Ibursts torrent restrictions with Xunlei (thunder download manager). Pm me if you need to know more.

Yesterday there we issues w.r.t. power at multiple base stations in the east rand. In addition, some subscribers would have experienced provisioning issues, e.g. static IP address.
