trying to finalise all that I need with my new iPhone 6 contract - anyone got experience with iStore iCare Plus? is it worth it?

iCare Plus for iPad and iPhone

iCare Plus for iPad and iPhone extends your warranty coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your Apple product and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage.

Make the most of all that your Apple product has to offer. The iCare Plus Extended Warranty extends the coverage on your iPad/iPhone by one year. That means two years of expert service and telephone technical support for your favourite Apple product.

This plan includes telephonic technical support and repairs at our Core Service Centres. Plus the plan includes two accidental handling damage incidents for further peace of mind.

Each damage incident is subject to a R500 service fee. Only valid for products purchased from iStore.

iPad / iPhone – R299

currently insure my devices via FNB, but this does this cover seems different scenarios, big one is the two accidental handling damages!

I do all my iphone upgrades/purchases at the istore for this one specific reason. The icare warranty helped me once and just last week my wife accidentally dropped her iPhone 5s. Took it to istore and 4 days later she collected her new phone.
Just note that there is a R500 payment upon collection.
It does not cover theft.

Saying all this I hope the icare warranty stays the same with the 2 new phones that launches next week.

thanks for the heads up, in the long term seems worth it - especially in light of the new phones price and more slippery (and bigger) than ever before!

^^ This.

Bought my iPhone 5S through the iStore - took out iCare. First time. Couple of months back, also dropped my phone and damaged it, for the 1st time....

There was an admin bungle with the iCare initially. The serial number had been taken down incorrectly - while that was being sorted, the repair quote from the iStore came through >> R3400... The power button took the hit, and needed to replaced.

Let's just say I was rather more willing to pay the R500 admin fee - and had a brand-new phone in my hands in 5 days...

No-brainer, imo.

Had to laugh at that!!!

Has anyone even dealt with someone who works at the iStore? You almost guaranteed to go in their knowing more than them with their "expert service"

A friend of mine was having problems with her MBP so she took it in and they booked it to be sent to jnb. When she told me what the symptoms were I insisted they let me have it. Zapped the pram and 30 seconds later it was back up and running.

Point proven!

Think they are told to send everything to JHB, that way they don't have to waste money on any training and just have their employees their to sell new products.

Why pay for something that Samsung offers for free

It's pretty hectic what lengths Samsung goes to to get rid of their phones...;)

I've never needed to use my iCare Warranty, but Murphy will surely make we wish I had if I didn't.

Definitely worth it, they replaced my iPad4 , no questions asked with a brand new unit.

Its less than the price of a fancy case,..

Just unfortunate the massive increase in price - jumped from R300 to R800 now.

It is a good insurance policy against damage though.
