Where is Mashila?

According to the article Mashila is out of the country. Where do you think or know he is? Perhaps watching the World Cup at Telkom's expense?

It will be nice to know.....

Agh shame - the poor guy is probably just taking a break and putting his feet up. Its not as if a correctly regulated telecommunications industry could save us millions. :rolleyes:
 
At the public hearings into ADSL pricing in May, many industry players called for a scrapping of the monthly access fee, and it is widely hoped that ICASA will heed these requests, bringing down the cost of Telkom's ADSL service.

What will this actually mean for those that already have ADSL? Are we then only going to pay our normal line rental to Telkom and have an ISP charge? Who and how will the speed of the line then be determined?

And if ICASA actually makes this recommendation, what kind of time frames can be expected? Knowing Telkom, won't they bring out the lawyers (or rather, just push them into the courtroom since they are always out!) to declare it unlawful or something?
 
I is wonderings.... Howmuch?? and if Anything will change on this new ADSL pricing details?? Propably just a scam..

Is this new pricing for ISP costs?? or line rental issue ?? or both??

Would be nice if both were cheaper :>> (apart from the august price drop already)
 
Paris does have e-mail but since he is out of the country and obviously didnt take his PA with him he doesnt know how to access it. so we going to have to wait for his return before someone can print it out for him

What is this about sat3 to expire? as far as I know sat3 was build with our tax payers money and they claim exclusive rights to it.

He's in Hong Kong at an internet cafe...

Just a query. If ICASA rules that Telkom's ADSL line rental must be scrapped will consumers be able to ask for a refund for when they were charged?

WTF is he doing out of the country in the first place :confused: What possible business could ICASA have abroad? He no doubt needed to find a new place to sleep during business hours where he wouldn't be caught, and an Airbus business class seat would probably be the perfect location.
 
I think that until the ECA is promolgated, the ADSL rules would have to fall under the old Telecoms act, which would make them void once the ECA does come in, so they have to wait :(

I also find it questionable that she is still doing ICASA duties after her term of office has expired, especially since we have heard no announcement of any kind of extension of her term. On the other hand though, she did head up the hearings, so it is appropriate that she finish off this stage of the process. Hmmmm.
 
Sounds liek they saying its gonna be a nice speach of future implementation. :( :(

Um, I'm going to go with a "no" here....
 
If that standard applied, everytime they increase petrol prices the oil companies would ask people to pay a refund based on all petrol prices throughout your past being the new increased price, i.e. You'd be instantly bankrupt.
 
I wonder if they'd adhere to a ruling like that(scrap monthly adsl rental) or if they will really pull the plug if given no way to recover the same profits attained. Then again with everyone moving over to closer package they can say closer + adsl rental = not paying for pots rental per say. But anyways here's to hoping entry level ADSL gets cheaper
