ICASA publish licensing procedures

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has finalised and published two sets of regulations that are critical to licensing.

According to ICASA all new applicants can now apply in terms of these processes and chapter 3 of the Electronic Communications Act.

duh...only when you tell us how much the applications will cost...

NB for WUGs - it seems that ICASA wants people to apply for licence exemptions! under the telecomms act if you fitted the licence exemption category then you were licence exempt...now it seems you will only be licence exempt if ICASA says so. How they think they will do this when every LAN needs to then apply is beyond me. The application should, imo, apply only where the licence exempt person wants to resell spare capacity

Why does the fact that this seems somewhat half-baked if dom is right now surprise me anymore?

As for asking me to apply for a license exemption for my home LAN.. they can ****, and they can also deal with my 45kg bull terrier if they want to investigate my property.
