Ideal reliable first car

You're right, the petrol is quite cheap. That diesel is expensive.

Don’t much mind it though, I continue to go to the dealer, as I also own a Captur (Clio before that, 2 Sanders before that and A Navara and Hardbody inbetween) and the Chief Mechanic there is worth his weight in gold. So I plan the services (and costs) accordingly.
 
For that you can almost get anything if you go for slightly older cars. It comes down to personal preference. If your polo cost you to much in repairs it is because you're doing it wrong, don't repair it at the dealership.
I'm pretty sure it's not repaired at a dealership. In any case its not actually my vehicle so I'd rather just get my own car, definitely something with better fuel economy.
