Good news for web developers is that while IE6 is still very much in evidence with 9% market share at the end of June, its profile is definitely on the decline. The browser, which has stubbornly held onto its position in the market despite being eight years old, slipped by a significant 10% over the first six months of this year, down from 19.2% in January.

People still actually use IE6, are they or what?

Develop for a set of standards, not a browser, I say. Still have to see how IE8 fits into that.

I never liked IE from the beginning, can't remember what version, but it pushed me to Netscape, and now Firefox. Only use that excuse for a browser when I am forced to.

I don't develop for that browser specifically, it is always last on my list getting my standards based code to render correctly in it.

I'm curious - do these stats show how many users use more than 1 browser ? I use IE8 in compatibility mode at work, as we have apps which will only run on (if you can believe this) IE 5.5 or 6. But most of my regular browsing is on FF3.5. Would be good to see how many of us are still forced to IE in this way.

I've changed my mind on the E.C ruling about not including IE with Microsoft Windows, at first I was against it now I support it, IE is just there to push Microsoft's agenda and halt standards progress, almost all browsers are ready for HTML5 except IE!, Microsoft are stalling HTML5 so they can force silver****e down peoples throat, HTML5 can do away with bloatware plugins.
Even youtube has a sample to show no flash is needed for this page..

Yip. AdBlock is awesome.
SkipScreen is another useful add-on.

Even though there's a new firefox vulnerability, I will still use it.

Because Firefox is Firefox, no matter what OS I run it on.

And you get more useful add-ons with Firefox than with IE.
