So while trying save fuel I started changing my driving behaviour.
So when i am driving at a decent speed and not holding up anyone behind me I would just let momentum lead me to a stop street or red robot. In so doing I will not be using the accelerator pedal for a while.
I will then get "check ignition system" and won't be able to accelerate unless I restart the car.
What would the cause be , fuel pump, filter, car has been fine until now, happend thrice
yesterday, Renault Clio manual

Clio 3, and yup
Engine doesn't even die, just can't accelerate after getting the error above
Now I keep giving petrol, just to ensure I can accelerate again

Are you sure its check ignition system and not check injection system?

The cause is electronic, don't fiddle with pumps and stuff. I suspect the the electronic accelerator module is not liking something although I don't understand why.

google clio coast mode .maybe some info there.eco mode for Clio cars

didnt vw have a similar thing that turns the fuel injection off untill you press the accelerator again .maybe your clio just forgets to restart.

Agree with Sinbad.

Get the error codes pulled before anything else. Even though the light goes away the error codes will be stored. And instead of paying someone 650 for a "diagnostic" rather buy yourself one of these.

Provided you have a smart phone there's a few free apps. Once you have the codes a quick Google should lead you on the right path. Probably won't have all the functions they claim to have but you should atleast be able to pull the error codes or as Sinbad said (dtcs) diagnostic trouble code system. Or something like that.

Even with my Autel diagnostics tablet some cars are very stubborn to allow access to thier brains. But error codes generally come out with most scanners.

Will definately get this.
Happened again this morning luckily approaching a robot. Quiche restart and I was off again

just remember most scanners especially the cheap ones will only read the code and cant clear it for you .renault uses its own protocol for obd2 and it differs between models .and sellers have a zero return policy .

where abouts are you ?if in my area i can try read them for you .also most of the cheap scanners will only read the ems .they wont even see the bms nor the fuel system nor the braking system .
