Illegal download warning

Why the hell would they pursue every single downloader of pirated material? Gonna take a LONG time.
Guess they don't have the power to sue the uploaders as these people are from other countries, now they want to make a rattle just to show they are doing something to combat piracy.
Not even to mention the revenue they will lose if they start banning downloaders of pirated material

I would imagine 90% of their profit comes from people that download pirated material. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they start banning everyone. However I think this is just a scare tactic, they are invading your privacy and can only release that information if they are subpeona'd (sp) by a court of law or the police.

public vs private tracking: i beleive more would be available on a private tracker because they are the first to offer pre-releases in some cases, so something has to filter down to Joe Public before he can upload it to a public tracker.

They say I should stop using Bitorrent, even though I used Vuse.

If they told you to NOT use Bittorrent technology you can tell them to stuff off!!! How dare they tell you what you can and cannot do with your Internet connection? They may tell you that somebody complained about you downloading copyrighted material perhaps but what programs and sources you access is YOUR business...

ISPs should do their job and shut the **** up!

Are you using uncapped?

You cannot be charged with a crime because download pirated is not illegal, selling them is.

the makers of terminator would have to sue you or make a case against you and i doubt they will worry about poor South africa :D.

Actually, according to copyright law, "distributing" it is illegal, which is what you do with torrents, because you aren't just downloading, you are also uploading, hence helping to distribute it.

but it is also a criminal offence in cases where a person imports, sells, distributes, deals in, or offers for sale, infringing works which he knows to be infringements of the copyright.

+1 there m8!

An ISP should simply be concerned about their SERVICE to you and not create a police state!

They aren't complaining about DOWNLOADS, they are complaining about the uploads. It's the same mediasentry tactic, they send out letters to ISP owners of IP addresses which host files with names of their movies, games and songs.

Yeah well, when all you have is a legal department, suddenly every problem looks like a lawsuit.

(They also have lobbyists, but lobbyists are just lawyers who couldn't pass the basic ethics requirements to get on the bar.)

The SAIX one is better (afaik - been a while since I switched from IS), but you can only access it with SAIX bandwidth. Likewise, you can only access the IS one with IS bandwidth.

cool, i have a saix local account... how do i access the news server? :)
