Well, I cut out all added and refined sugars. I still eat 2 x portions of fruit a day (usually an apple and strawberries or another fruit that is low in sugar). You need to explain why you want to cut out sugar. Is it for overall health, to feel better, to lose weight?
My goal is to lose weight, improve overall health & fitness, and retain as much muscle that I have gained as possible. I eat:
Breakfast:
Greek yogurt / plain yogurt with nuts and a fruit
Or
Scrambled eggs and a fruit
Lunch:
Woolworths salad (with my own salad dressing)
Or
My own home made salad (chicken / tuna)
Dinner:
Veggies, a salad and 1 serving of lean meat
Snacks (depending on hunger - usually around two of these a day):
1 x serving fruit
1 x serving nuts or lean biltong
2 x Provitas with low fat cottage cheese
Post Workout:
1 x Protein shake (very low in kjs and almost no sugar)
I drink around 2l of water a day.
I love my fruit every day, and I would never be able to cut it out. I wouldn't recommend cutting out fruit completely as they are very high in fiber and other vitamins and minerals. Even though I eat fruit, I get very few sugar related cravings, if any at all. I have experienced all the benefits Sean has.
The first week was hell. I was super grumpy and I got pretty bad headaches. It went away after a couple of days.
