I have shopped around a bit. Most of the dealers are only willing to give me around 90k as a trade in for my 1yo Cherry Tiggo TXE. The book value for trade in is 123k. So I got a little pissed off. I told them that the trade in assist does not mean that they can rip the naught out of it on the actual trade in. Thats no deal at all.

I have just phoned Sandton BMW because they are part of Mccarthy I thought they might give me a better trade in on my (Mccarthy) Cherry. Straight off the bat, just by looking in their little book, they offered me 119k. Then the lady said she will go and see if she can better that price because they are part of Mccarthy (and because of the extra's I have on it).

Much better.

So I am thinking about buying a BMW 320i, with a couple of extra features, like the gps, hifi, and a coupla other cool things.
Any advice? Should I order one to exactly what I want? or should I take a floor model? How long would I wait if I ordered it? What should I be keeping in mind during this thing.

I have tried to use their car configure thing, but its confusing as hell. Besides I honestly don't know what half that crap is.

What are your thoughts on the 1 series? I think I could have most of the same features as the 3, but is the car nice?

what 320i? E46, E90????

Coz imo the E46 sportpack ones look way better.

madman, your thoughts on the tiggo please? I see it often in the ads and it looks interesting.

lol...and waranty, coz when they go wrong...which it will as opposed to popular belief...its manie!!!

I actually don't know the difference :o, But I will definitely look into that now.

Ok Here is a mini review:

I have driven it now for just over a year. I have had no engine trouble, and it has nice torque in low gears. It tops out at about 180 at a push, but does 160 easily. The gears are a bit rough, but I find that I don't notice that unless I have been driving my wifes car or the bakkie.

When I bought it they promised me 7l/100km. You only get that if you drive like ms daisy. If I drive nicely I use about 9. If I drive like a paluka I use about 14. IT DRINKS.

The biggest issue is the finishings. To this day I am still not sure that the one I test drove is the one I got. I'm sure I would have noticed if the finishes where as bad as they are. I fought about it , but got nowhere.

The inside light cover keeps falling off. I have taken it back about 8 times for that. The rubbers under the headlights keep coming loose. The back doors squeek like its a banger.

Overall its not a bad car, and I have heard that the newer ones are much better. But if I had an undo button for that, I would have pressed it long time ago.

My advice? Avoid it.

I currently Drive the BMW 323i E90

Its my third BMW and I must say its the best one out of all of them

My advice to you is Don't buy a 320i stay away from the 4 cylinder Petrol BMW's they really slack and you will be disappointed after a while of driving it

Either get a 320d or a 323i if you push them a bit there will be a minimal difference on your Monthly Repayments one thing about BMW they can structure good deals and give good discounts if you get the right sales guy.

As far as the extras go don't look at them individually put packs on your car like the exclusive pack or the sports pack this will cut down on how long your order will take to be delivered and you will save money

My favourite is the exclusive pack its got loads of gadgets inside then you strap on some nice mags and you on your way. The sports pack is all visual it does not have xenon lights and PDC and quite a few things the make the exclusive pack nice

then if you want Satnav and sunroof you can add them in separately.

The E90 BMW's are built here so you should not wait more than a couple of weeks to get one no matter what the config

is it gonna be a family car?

Yes and no. We have the Picasso as the family car and mostly its used for that, but there are times when we rather go in my car of the Picasso is in for a service or something...

MMM you have a Cherry Tigo? Now you want a BMW with navigation? Thats a R25000 extra right??:eek:
BMs are cool, nice cars. 10 000 times better than a Cherry.

Madman, if u dont know the diff bet an e46 and e90 u should go do some homework before spending like R3-400K on a BMW. I am afraid the salesperson may take you for a ride. If u want more info/ecperiences on e90's join the local or int BMW forums. Spend a week or two on them before deciding on models/derivatives of models.

but u have to get the angel eyes!!!

No, no.. I am def not going to rush into anything. Not by a long shot. I'd like a BM but if its all not exactly the way I want it I will walk away. I have found with car salesmen its push or be pushed. I push.

I'm also looking at the new Kia Cerato. Its no Bmw, but its still a damn nice car... Like I said, I'm still only thinking about buying a Bmw... I think the big hook there is the 40k trade-in assist.

IMHO in that segment, bang for buck you get better value from an Audi.

I definitly need to have a look at the Audi's also..

There's too many options in the market to make a decision quickly. Any way you look at it u gonna have to fork out a large amount for a new car.

also go check out Subaru for their 2.0 non-turbo AWD Sedan. they were having a special for R200k on that. R59k off IIRC.

ok so I spoke too soon. :(
My POS car is only worth about 90K
