I'm thinking about buying a BMW.

I currently Drive the BMW 323i E90

Its my third BMW and I must say its the best one out of all of them

My advice to you is Don't buy a 320i stay away from the 4 cylinder Petrol BMW's they really slack and you will be disappointed after a while of driving it

Either get a 320d or a 323i if you push them a bit there will be a minimal difference on your Monthly Repayments one thing about BMW they can structure good deals and give good discounts if you get the right sales guy.

I second you on the 320i. It feels lazy. I would rather buy a demo 323i than a new 320i.

However, I don't think that BMW SA update their site to reflect the changes?

SA:
Reflecting the old 115 Kw
http://www.bmw.co.za/products/automobiles/3/sedan/320i.asp

USA:
You can clearly see 125kw (make sure you click on 320i, as by default 318i is selected)
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicles/3series/sedan/2008/allfacts/engine/technical_data.html

Afaik the new 2009 models are the ones with the revised four cylinder engine. Also, new 8.2 seconds 0-100 vs old 9.0 seconds is almost a second shaved off

I could be wrong but I don't think its a mistake from BMW SA website. The specs are for the SA version of 320i which could be tuned differently due to our conditions.

Madman, if u dont know the diff bet an e46 and e90 u should go do some homework before spending like R3-400K on a BMW. I am afraid the salesperson may take you for a ride. If u want more info/ecperiences on e90's join the local or int BMW forums. Spend a week or two on them before deciding on models/derivatives of models.

but u have to get the angel eyes!!!

If you're going to spend R300-400k, you're not going to buy an E46 ;)

I have just phoned Sandton BMW because they are part of Mccarthy I thought they might give me a better trade in on my (Mccarthy) Cherry. Straight off the bat, just by looking in their little book, they offered me 119k. Then the lady said she will go and see if she can better that price because they are part of Mccarthy (and because of the extra's I have on it).

Much better.

So I am thinking about buying a BMW 320i, with a couple of extra features, like the gps, hifi, and a coupla other cool things.
Any advice? Should I order one to exactly what I want? or should I take a floor model? How long would I wait if I ordered it? What should I be keeping in mind during this thing.

I have tried to use their car configure thing, but its confusing as hell. Besides I honestly don't know what half that crap is.

What are your thoughts on the 1 series? I think I could have most of the same features as the 3, but is the car nice?

I just traded in my E90 325i at Sandton Auto. Great service and they gave me a much better deal than Northcliff auto!

- I would take a floor model 3 Series and I'd look for a demo 320d or 323i.

- Most demos I've seen come with either Exclusive Pack or M-Sport Pack plus Sunroof. Exclusive Pack would suite you better because it looks like you prefer cool things than outside visual appeal of the M-Sport. With Exclusive Pack, you get Xenon headlights, Partial-electric seats, Glass sunroof, Hi-Fi system, Park Distance Control, etc.

Occasionally, you might find a demo with Sat Nav.

dont be ungrateful man!

I suppose.

The thing is. I traded in my fully paid up Hyundai Getz worth R50k and paid in R20k cash on the thing.

I paid a total of 190k a year ago. After 13 months of paying 3200 per month The settlment on the thing is 104k? That means I have pissed away R111k. If I trade the POS in at R90k and take the R14k knock I have effectively paid R9300 per month to "rent" it for a year.

Or I could have just put the R20k inside the Getz and torched it. I would have been in a better place now.

Sell this piece of **** before you piss away any more money. Also, learn your lesson now. Don't buy brand new, let someone else take the knock first. If you buy brand new, pay cash or pay off in 24 months or less. That way it's not worth peanuts by the time it's paid off.

BMW excellent choice. 320 is lazy, especially on the auto. 323i, different story. I had a 523i, same engine bigger car and it was still great. Go for it, get a demo/slightly used model.

Lol, I have been driving an E90 320i for years already. I'm loving every minute of it. Their motto is "sheer driving pleasure" for good reason!

I've had stunning service from Auto Alpina springs over the years. I only hope I find a dealer as good in the western cape.
