hi there, long time reader, first time poster...

my 21.5" imac has a fried logic board so i've replaced it as it was going to particularly expensive to fix. i've also removed the hard drive and put it in an external enclosure to use for backups.

is my old imac now of any value whatsoever? i'm tempted to just give it back to the people who quoted the repair but i'm a little loathed to do so.

i think it's pretty unlikely that there is someone out there looking for what i've got so i'm also reluctant to go through the process of putting it in the classified to just have people calling me to try to rip me off.

does anyone know of people in cape town who salvages imacs?

thanks in advance

Who told you it has a fired logic board, because that seems to be the standard Core response to any machine sent to them. If it really is the logic board, you could look at it as a DIY project, and get one shipped in from overseas. At the end of the day though an old machine that's suffered that kind of issue is always going to be perceived as risky by a buyer. If you fix it up, you're still going to stuck with it as a media centre or something.

If the damage was related to an electrical surge, then you may have an insurance claim.
