I would like to have your opinion on the Imagine Uncapped Accounts
The 512 I'm looking at costs R490 for router/installation and R980/m.
P2P restricted is restricted but not newsservers. It's not 12month contract, but month to month.

1)Does anyone have one of these accounts? How is the performance? consistent with your package?
2)How many simultaneous connections can these routers handle?
3)Any other catches I should be aware of?

Your Thread seems to have gotten lost amongst the masses. Lets see.
The cost of this is a once off R558.60 and R1117.20 per month. I dont have this but i have not heard anything bad about them in the past though*. Take a look at the Business uncapped option at ODS too. But price wise, Imagine looks like a good deal.

Someone on here Has to have this uncapped account at Imagine. Common, Anyone!?

*Edit: Although they are Totally ignoring the regulations about showing pricing excl. of VAT!

Don't mind the p2p block just need int browsing. is the ods contract month to month or 12month? I cant seem to find it on their site...

Wierd that nobody is replying though since it is basically a choice between ods and imagine if your looking for uncapped...

I have had one of the 512k uncapped accounts for quite a few months now. Support is great with these guys i have to say.

One thing that does REALLY bug me is the international throttle. No way in the world will you ever get anything above 10k/sec from EU, US or whereever. (IS sat based int connectivity) Everything local seems to work ok but ive seen some cheaper solutions out there to be honest. Infact there is an isp wich now has a very cheap offer on uncapped services.

At the moment is use Imagine for local traffic and a VPN based solution for international traffic, Im a wow junkie so packetloss is not done! :D

crap...

I already ordered it. At least i got the 192Kb package to start off with. If it doesn't give me at least 18KB/s avg i'm going to complain non stop until it does...

Hope the support is what you say it is...

Btw what is this cheaper isp you speak of. PM me if your keeping it a secret :confused::confused::confused:

Lets compare apples with apples. if you are looking for a real uncapped solution with no limits and no set-up fee ODS is the way, however if you don't mind the limits on p2p and being throttled then the other provider will be perfect.

I must say that i find it VERY disturbiing and unprofessional that a company would brage into a thread like this to promote itself. It doe son the other hand give an impression about the company so thank you ODS.

The ISP that i was referring to is Openweb. I now took the chance to name them since you asked, so im not promoting anything just answering a question and sharing my experience. I recently switched to them (wel actually i still have 2 ISP's) after setting up the telkom modem with the account i got from Openweb it all just "worked" u know you click and it works.. Unlike the rest of the companies with their BS solutions.

Straightforward, no ***, finish&klaar it Works :)

I see no unprofessional company that barged into this thread. . .Not even an ISP. If you are referring to ODS, then I am afraid you have to think and read the posts above carefully again.

ODS does in fact have the cheapest TRUE-Uncapped solution. You save R1000 odd with the setup fee, and they even throw in the Router.

But this has nothing to do with barging into threads. ODS did not barge into this thread, he was merely Confirming what another member here said about them. And with that, he even Agreed that the other company would be the better solution if you prefer the limits on the P2P access.

In case you have been wondering, I don’t work for ODS.
Thumbs up for ODS :D

ISPs are always welcome to interact with us...thats what we're here for :)

T ODS and other ISPs...cant u guys come up with an affordable local(IS) uncapped account?
Xdsl got one but holy smokes its damn expensive...for something like R750 a month.

Though some may think that account would be pointless...since telkom is gonna uncap local...I personally dont think its gonna happen anytime soon...so yeah....just an account for news servers and local gaming :)

Come come, consider it!

xdsl is 75/25 network split.

384K fiber @ R1600 any one ?

main problem is this not the price around the cisco router solution, but rather that its shaped and slow for int gaming.

neither can you get the rooter in bridge mode so that you can dail another account with that same router whilst its connected to your uncapped account.

what would be better having uncapped with the option to use unshaped alswel and not a proxy socks.....

...wow doesn't support socks and its against their terms and conditions to use applications that 'hooks' the packets.

real solution would mean uncapped with the option to use my verizon/saix unshaped with it.

even more real would be a affordable fiber connection.

Look. Since the Express accounts got nerfed, we've all got to look at alternatives. I don't use p2p much, if at all. The main thing the line is used for is browsing. In fact, I want the p2p to be shaped (if that means faster browsing) since I share the line with a few other people.

So if Imagine Doesn't Deliver. I will go to ODS and cough up.

And ID13. ODS did barge into this thread.

Read what he posted: if you don't mind the limits on p2p and being throttled then the other provider will be perfect.

Who wants throttling? obviously blowing his horn. what a job. lurk the mybroadband forums 24/7 waiting for a chance to spam.

Who is ID13? ID #13?

I know people that would not mind being on a P2P-less connection, even if it was throttled! But anyway, Lets not argue if ODS did, or did not barge into what thread or whatever. This would be useless and degrading to the community spirit as a whole and would have a serious negative impact on the economy as the counter balance that could .... I could go on and on, but I'm not going to. This is "your" thread
