Imagine Uncapped Feedback

Yeah - am still at home and think that gmail is internetinal still. Therefore will be rubbish until sorted out.

Will doublle check when I get in the office... just had to rant on the crazy 'bandwidth-hog' piece on the front page... the banality and non-news-worthyness of a piece like that is annoying. If you want to promote WUGs then do so... don't use a scapegoat that holds the market back.

I'm starting to question motives and usefulness of the articles here. It seems more like a stream of Press Releases than news.

+1 that plus the slew of kiddie posts having nothing to do with anything. Pity, it used to be useful, but I fear that many useful posters have left. Were it not for threads such as this I also have been long gone.

On a more serious note:

Choke, cough, arghh - call the paramedics, tracheotomy required. :D

You should definitely go with Imagine.... these guys are on hot coals.... and you are the hot coals.... so if you warm up (ie send email), they respond pretty quickly :D

do imagine also have this flagshipped method of uncapped: shape at 50 (but actually at 20), kill you at 90 and rend your flesh around 100 ? afai-remember haven't read anywhere that they employ this at all.

Nope. The accounts come straight from IS, so IS does all the shaping and whatnot.
My line (384) is 20-25KBps during the day (usually) and mostly fullspeed at night. Weekends are blazingly fast. Torrents/news sluggish during the day but fine->fast at night, 100% during weekends. RS dead for me, but Hotfile blazing fast.

No - that is another IS product that is sold to the reseller 'per GB' and then passed on to the client marked 'uncapped'.
We have refused to sell it and made quite an issue of it behind the scenes.

The product that we sell is the IS Uncapped Basic ADSL account, which although shaped 24/7 is true uncapped, unthrottled...

Please note though: (to save you reading through the last 20+ pages on this thread)
- The account is not up to quality yet but there ahve been marked improvements
- The SEACOM issue hasn't helped a lot with the improvements either but that should be ending now.
- IS have now backed this product internally and are provisioning the correct IPC and bandwidth to run it as the best in market.
- Although improvement has been seen in the account it will continue to improve through May.

I really couldn't guarantee that you are better off with this account during May, if you are comparing to MWeb. If you want more than the 200GB cap then stick with the IS account, otherwise maybe give it a month with MWeb and then come back as the service will be significatly better (we have been promised!).

I hope that helps.

Again, we have another meeting with MWeb in an hour where were have been continuing reseller talks and other services... hopefully we will soon be able to offer IS, MWeb, Vodacom, Telkom products so you don't have to keep flipping between providers!

Cheers P.

EDIT: thanks froot! much better coming from someone using it than selling it... I always give long, boring answers ;)

well it was long and i had to reply a lot...

I have nothing bad to say about Imagine, nothing wrong that was in their control!

Peter has been fantastic and their service has not only been the best I've received from an ISP, but possibly the best I've ever received from a company in SA! When IS get their **** together, Imagine will be the way to go, no doubt!!!

@Peter
I am not an Imagine client, but have been following this thread closely. It is so refreshing to see the transparency you provided on MyBB wrt to the IS uncapped offers. Will definitely consider your deals as soon as the basic uncapped package prove to be a bit more reliable.

You beat me to it :D

Yeah - well good Customer Service is much needed here. I have to say, of all the countries I've worked in, SA has to be the most frustrating for that.

A great example was my last phone call about a great HP laptop that has broken on me.

In most other countries:
They would come pick it up or just send me the parts... estimated repair time 2-5 days allowing for postage.

In SA
I have to drive 45 minutes to Midrand, sit in a 2 hour queue and deal with someone who has never seen the unit before, drive back with a piece of paper.
The onus is on me to keep calling to find out what is happening.
2 weeks later I have just had a response... they have ordered parts and have no idea when they will arrive.
... sit in a pool of dispair on the floor until I realise that I came from a country with cheap electronics and have a spare laptop.

I really do feel upset and annoyed about the state of the market here. So if I can change my little portion of it then i'm definitely going to fly that flag.

Hopefully, i'm also offering the suggestion to others woking in the service sector to just go that little bit further to make sure their clients are happy. If we can all do it then the bar is raised.. then we just raise it again, and so on.

/climbs off soap box....

Oh ****... you mean we have to put my money where my mouth is? :D
OK - well keep in touch with your feedback. I'm keen to see how you find it all.

yes i'm counting the seconds here and will be either flaming or praising ;)

If its positive feedback, I will sign up, too. I must add there are quite a few good offers in the market now, making it very difficult to choose the one!

The problem is the accounts are all the IS basic accounts being re-sold, I am with Imagine at the moment and I am not happy with my speeds, been using them all month and I havent been happy.

This isn't down to anything Imagine have done, simply due to IS....

I signed up with Mweb yesterday but if IS do sort their **** out and I can get the same / better results with IS through Imagine, I will definitely be back!

Good news! Looks like we might be able to work with MWeb and resell their products as well... more to follow as this was just the start of some annoying legal work. Hopefully not too long - just a matter of 2-3 weeks.

Lots more on the cards too but first things first - Let allow people to choose ADSL supplier, rather than ADSL reseller. Then we can really start bolting lots of stuff on. It's painful watching everyone bounce around from one company to another when we're all just selling the same thing (Some of us anyway!).
