Imagine Uncapped Feedback

And back!! But still horribly slow.

+1

Update on my Imagine user experience. Weekend only got as high as 28k which was on http. Monday I was back to the weirdness. 12am - 7am 13k.........7am - 9pm 22-25k on torrents.......
Weird no?

That's very wierd TopCa7

Can you PM/email me your username and phone number. I'll get the guys to look in to it. They will likely escalate this to IS and Telkom as it sounds very much like an exchange issue to me... although I am not, of course, an expert in this.. but am very interested to find out what's going on. If should be the other way around or nothing. Which likely means that there is something else in the chain of events that isn't performing correctly.

While intl was out today, my local went up to 40Kbps at one stage (for a while)... then dropped down again.
Intl works (I can refresh Gmail) but sites won't load yet.

Maximum speeds tonight: <30KBps. Intl sites lag tremendously if I try to download anything.

An Uncapped 4MB line was OK early this morning but absurdly slow at after 8'ish around 30k- I understand shaping and network "overload" during the day but trying to get an 800MB Windows Server trial via HTTP is barely even moving. I was on a 384k line for a week and I could average 35k during the day now on a 4Meg line it's no better.

Yeah - am going to see what the Tech team are doing with IS at the minute and if they have any plans or strategy on when teh networks speeds will improve.
It's really not funny anymore.

How are things today guys?

Not good.

This is what it's saying.... but I'm getting less when browsing. Tried to grab the new Ubuntu, but it only goes at 5KBps :(

5kbps for a local download? Damn... :(
Let me see if I can spur a few people in to action.

EDIT: OK - a few other people have bad speeds, however others are running well. Annoying...
IS have no notices set on their systems and so we have created a few tickets on your behalf to see what they can see and do. Will feedback once I know more.

Been running Linux updates tonight (I decided to fetch the iso from someone instead) and it runs either bad (2KBps) now and then, or acceptable (33KBps).

ppedrick, what do you think the chances are of IS going lighter with their shaping/throttling on local traffic? Especially since it's a lot cheaper for them. For a start this would be great....

Not happy.

Edit: I submitted a support ticket: LRW-657216.
I tested using another IS semi-shaped account and getting 38KBps on a mirror.ac.za download. Only getting 4.75KBps on the same file on Imagine.

PM sent.
Sorry for late reply, was in a car accident :/

I'm sorry guys,
You are right, there should be a lot better traffic running through these accounts.
We were told to 'give them 4-5 weeks to sort it all out' and it's 2-3 now so I am guessing that we should be patient but I'm not sure whether to hold my breathe or not. Again, it looks like we're going to be selling the MWeb accounts for June and so I think that we're going to offer everyone a transfer if it carries on.
We're just about to test the Branded Internet accounts as well. It's a bit of a mystery how they are selling at the prices they are when our, and other companies, calculations put the IPC alone at around the R8 a GB price... and that's on telkom's full discount rate... so we are approaching everything with caution right now.

Did the guys get back to you with feedback froot? i know that we go straight to the top now when we have a problem.

Thanks for the reply.
I sent the ticket 14min ago so not expecting a reply just yet ;)
You guys had better resell Mweb accounts next month.... I hear their network is doing a little better at the moment :p
And yes, the prices are ridiculously low so we don't know (and we do wonder) how they can sell it at these prices.

MWeb are already saying that 1st June is their date for reseller launch. We have the IT integration and peering meeting next Wednesday afternoon so should be able to give a date for definite.

From personal experience I can tell you that Mweb is doing better then the IS stuff, but its not perfect!!

You ok?
What speeds do you get atm?

Geez - you alright TC?

Lol, shot for concern guys, yeah am fine. Had far worse and am still walking around.
It was a tough choice, t-bone a cop doing an illegal turn or drive into a concrete pillar. If I had chosen the cop maybe he would've stopped and not driven off -_-

Speeds have been so so, still not hitting 30's. But its going at a constant speed 24/7 day and night mid 20k, Monday-Wednesday (when all the nice series come out :D) averaged 2.2gb a day!
