iMessage & FaceTime on Cell C

RAVE, thank you so much! I've tried every solution that was suggested on multiple forums and wasnt willing to re-setup my iPhone. I also thought that it was an issue with porting my number from Vodacom to Cell-C, but your solution worked perfectly for me. I logged out of everything and waited 2 days. Once Apple's system "forgot" about my old number, I logged everything back in and it all started working as it should have from the start.

So my phone is activated on iMessage and FaceTime but only on my AppleID, there is no number in there. There was one, but after I ported it was the wrong number, now there is nothing. Just my AppleID, no number. Was yours the same?

Hi Oozy,

Yip, exactly the same here - seemed to remember my old number that I used before the port. It worked fine with my email address but not my phone number (which I thought was a bit pointless on my phone). By following RAVE's solution iMessage started working with my correct number.

The trick was to log-out of everything that contained your Apple ID (iMessage, FaceTime, AppStore... etc), give Apple's servers enough time to forget your old number which was linked to your iPhone. Then activate iMessage with your phone number. Only once it registers correctly, then you can use your Apple ID again if you want.

You might need some trial and error (and patience), but I hope it works in the end.

Good luck, let us know if it worked.

I have trying for a few days now , just cannot activate imessage , restored a number of times already , still no luck , ported from MTN to CellC , only since updating to IOS 6.1.2 am i experiencing this problem , previous activations worked.
