iMessage on iPhone 5

I've recently got an iphone with cell c and ported from vodacom. When i put the sim in my phone it had and 084 number which was set as my number on the phone. It has since ported to the 082 voda number but when I send an iMessage it sends from the 084 number. I've since changed the "My number" to my 082 number but now imessage says waiting for activation. anyone know how to fix this and send the imessages from my 082 number?

I cant say exactly how to fix this but I did notice that when I first powered on my CellC iPhone, it sent an sms to an international number (I'm assuming this was the activation for iMessage). I would guess this needs to be sent again somehow?

After putting in your new number, turn iMessage off, wait 10min and turn it back on again

You could also try going to https://appleid.apple.com and confirming what cell number is on your Apple ID. That helped me a while back.

I've changed my number, switched off iMessage and FaceTime, reset network setting, restarted phone and now iMessage won't activate. Tries changing the number back and still won't.

I am on cell c, also from vodacom. My activation also failed, but i retried while connected to wifi and it worked, did it about 10 min ago

When i activate I get a pop up saying my carries will be charged for activation blah blah. Click yes, then nothing. Same thing on cellular and wifi. You think people at the istore can help?

It can sometimes take a while to activate. I've found you can speeed this up by turning iMessage off, waiting a 10min and then turning it on again

Been waiting almost 24 hours now, think i may restore to factory settings and try from there

When I message someone using iMessage, all my sent messages are duplicated across my 2 other iPhones... is this normal?

Yes, also happens on iPad if you have one. Its linked to your appleID.
