Frek cold outside today. Need to put up the Xmas lights outside. Going to freeze my ass off.

Yeah, just about every house puts lights up. Looks really nice at night. We have a house down the road that spends 2 weeks putting lights up every year. Has thousands and thousands of lights, with a giant Santa on the roof and the scenery changes every year.I’m looking forward to Christmas next year. Europeans just do Christmas better than South Africans. It’s too hot here this time of year to make it feel like Christmas.

Tons of people stop to take photos and they ask for a small donation (If you can) which they collect for charity.

I heard them debating this on bbc4 on the radio the other evening.
I do find the logic of 'charge them more for the visa too prove they can fund themselves' a little weird and perhaps disingenuous to a point of a money making scheme from Gov.
I'm not impacted (I think ? Ancestral Visa) but it does seem there will be clamping down on visas even though there seems to be skill shortages in some industries.
