if I remember correctly, the second time you have to pass to a higher standard than the first oneThat part I don’t understand. If I passed the first time why would I need to pass the test again when renewing.

My wife didn't have to prove english a 2nd time because her first one was high enough.
I just had to have a short chat with someone to prove that I could speak English. Easy peasy.

Well where I work, they technically speak English but I had an easier time understanding German than these folks (they all full British)Yeah, been living in London too long. Hard to master a language when no-one around you speaks it.
Scored higher than the B1 needed. So that’s one more thing off the list.
