Immigrating to the UK

I’m in the south east country side. Normally I just pick up wors at the sa shops if I go in to the office.
So I reckon it’s time mix things up and try so thing new

I'm sure @Sinbad would send his butler to drop some off to you if you asked nicely.

The Spar in Maidstone has/had a pretty good wors, not sure how far you are from there.

Random update: renewing insurance was substantially cheaper this year. 1/3 roughly.
Going onto a monthly payment dropped my credit score 11pts . I’ll pay that upfront again next time to avoid that.

car insurance or home?

Cool thanks for the headsup.

I must say, I am not too impressed with my UK short term insurance (Admiral).

Unlike my SA short term I was charged an admin fee of GBP 9.5 simply to add additional items to my policy, which seems bizarre. I am hesitant to make more changes to the policy (to remove items I longer own) because I suspect they will charge me another fee. Seems very unfriendly to consumer

Same with my wife’s, any change attracts an admin fee. Haven’t had to make changes to mine but I suspect it will be the same.

Insurance here sucks balls.
Admin fees for everything, 1 year contract (if you claim, you can't cancel the contract even if you don't need the cover)

No claim bonus can only be attached to one car.

I moved, and got charged for having the decency to advise my insurer of my new address.

Hmm I probably did as well - but my move was to a lower risk location so I got a refund anyway

tell me more - if you can?
Looking around LinkedIn, spotted a job I knew I could do (was overqualified for), so I applied.
I was helped a bit by the fact that I already worked for the same global group - but this was in no way a transfer. I am also a citizen so sponsorship was not required. I also did not expect any relocation assistance.
They wrote into my contract that I had to be resident in the UK while I was employed, so they covered their regulatory issues that way. So my start date was the day after I was released from quarantine.

Salty balls, I 'missed' my renewal by less than 24 hours. Insurance expired on 30th, I thought it expired on the 31st. When I came to renew the treated me as a 'new' customer , which would have cost me over a 100 quid more for the year. I eventually went with a different insurer. No loyalty in either direction

Question for those in the UK, what are the best banking options that have similar benefits/rewards to FNB and Discovery in SA? I've been in the UK for a few months with a Club Lloyd's account, but now that I've settled, I want to move to a bank where I can get loyalty rewards similar to eBucks and Discovery Miles, lounge access, flight discounts etc.
Do these types of rewards even exist here?
