Had a family member and a friend use cazoo without a need for the 3yr thing. Don't know if that's their norm or if they're just more open to helping people but worth a look

Yoh. It's been nearly 4 years since I started this thread and if not for covid I would probably have been there already.
Actually feeling despondent and just want to pack up and leave this place.
Pull your finger out and make it happen. It won't happen on its own ...Yoh. It's been nearly 4 years since I started this thread and if not for covid I would probably have been there already.

Subscription cars? If so, they sadly stopped offering those a few months ago due to their financial woes...Had a family member and a friend use cazoo without a need for the 3yr thing. Don't know if that's their norm or if they're just more open to helping people but worth a look

FFS, first card I had had a limit of less than my daily salary.
Totally whacked. When I was there in early 2000's - on a working holiday visa, while it was difficult to get a bank account (took about 30 days after I arrived to get it), but when I got the bank account, HSBC, i also got a CC with the same limit as my salary. Even then people had commented that it was odd I got a CC within 1 month of arrival. I guess I was just luckyWelp, been here 17 months tomorrow. And FINALLY i have gotten my credit rating to a point where I can move away from "credit builder" cards and get a card with a decent limit.

I do think that banks were a lot easier with credit back then.Totally whacked. After 2009 there was a lot of tightening up around banking.
SO has lived in the UK before, she has had a local (UK) HSCB account for at least 4 years and some credit score. Been trying to get financing on a car, but most finance companies seems to say: "you need to have been here for 3 years to qualify for car financing".
Any advice on this?
Kinda need one immediately, and moving is expensive so want to keep as much liquidity as possible.Secondhand cars are so cheap in the UK compared to SA, why not just save up and buy one cash?
It's your own fault for closing your accounts when you left the first time. I still have all of mines, and still use the CC occasionally to keep it activeI do think that banks were a lot easier with credit back then.
I bought a car with an unsecured loan (15 grand) after being there about 6 months in 1999.
I was lucky this time around. I got a mortgage approved within 4 months. No idea how, but thank goodness.

Who did you go with for your mortgage broker? I think you've told me before but my memory's gone to the dogs.I do think that banks were a lot easier with credit back then.

My accounts all went dormant, and could not be revived unfortunately. I did try. Last used them in 2005.It's your own fault for closing your accounts when you left the first time. I still have all of mines, and still use the CC occasionally to keep it active![]()
