Immigrating to the UK

The mobile provider should call you after 2 months or so and offer you a contract, which you haggle a bit and accept. That's what EE did for me, my wife and a couple friends.
Always pays to haggle expecially when your contract is coming up for renewal. Use one of the compare sites for broadband/phone/insurance. You will be amazed at how they suddenly drop the price when you threaten move. Otherwise if they can't match it then move. I've saved a fortune over the years by jumping around

Congrats.

Not sure I can offer much advise abour solicitor jobs as I'm in IT but one thing I noticed is that companies look around a lot on LinkedIn. I didn't use it much until I got here. Got both my job offers through LinkedIn and didn't even go via agencies.
Get pinged almost every week with a offer.
@x32

1) Use a different email address for recruiters, else you get spammed with job offers for months.

2) As above, get a burner phone number if you have a dual SIM phone to put on CV and recruiting sites.

I learnt my lesson!

Wish I had this problem! So far they've all been ghosting me.

Thank you. Been to Friary a couple of times now. Great little centre that and the shops around it are pretty decent too.
Yeah, between Friary and the whole high street area there isn't much you can't get. Some good restaurants too.

I quite enjoy Guildford.

Good idea. Easily done with Asda's free sim. They even post it to you for free. Perfect for incoming calls.

I recently renewed with BT. Was going to go 300 fibre with Virgin. I thought they had a pretty good deal. Spoke to BT and said I'm moving and next thing they are giving me 500 fibre for £28

The old + trick on gmail and smarty cards do the trick. Funny how the recruiters thing gathers momentum. At first you’re hoping to come right and then you’re wishing they’ll leave you alone.

Eish, now i feel bad . It'll come right, you'll see.

Possibly review your CV. Many recruiters have systems looking for keywords and buzzwords that possibly ignore the CVs not hitting the word thresholds?

What job site did you use? I used reed.co.uk to great success.

Another good one is to use duck's email protection service. You create a random email which forwards to your email and you can change it as you like.

I am on 500Mbps, paying £42 currently. Under £30 will be fantastic.

Did you phone for renewal, or go straight to cancellations?

There are some good deals out there, I think @Hamish McPanji got a 900Mbps fibre service from Vodafone recently for around that cost, with cash back via uSwitch.

Def need to renegotiate at the end of your contract.

Straight to cancellations. They wanted to know why I wanted to cancel so I told them service was great but leaving for better price.
One moment please...let me speak with my manager. They are trying to hang to as much business as they have.

How long before your contract expired did you call?

you have to give 30 days notice so called the day before just to cover myself.

Have some prices from other vendors you can throw around. uswitch.com is a good one as they throw in extra things something for new customer deals which you can use for bargaining power.
