Immigrating to the UK

Would love to know the details of this. My wife has a British birth certificate and still had to be a resident here for 3 years before we could apply for the kids and because our eldest is an adult doesn’t get to take advantage of it.
Purely curious as we won’t change course this late into the process.

I’m dreading the possibility of a 10year ILR.

The 10 year ILR will come with a 5 year "discount" for being married to a brit.

I unfortunately don't know the details other than it can get very complicated with my wife needing various documents and family history going back a few generations.

I think its the same 4L ruling that I used to get it for myself and my son. If your wife has a British parent / grandparent and everything meets the criteria I think your adult son could get it through her on the 4L. But like you said, you've been there long enough for them to get it through naturalisation.
 
I am sure this is mentioned somewhere in the thread. But make sure to get your DLconfirmation letter before you leave. Just to save a few pounds shipping it from SA

Ah bugger. Well, they’ll have given you very specific reasoning in a letter. Normally easy enough to re apply and correct any misunderstandings. My very first UK visitor visa was declined because they thought my partner (now wife) who I was visiting at the time was not a real person lol. Fortunately it didn’t hamper future visa and immigration applications.

Oh interesting. Back in the day, when a visa was refused you only knew the decision when you collected your passport. If the lady handed you an A4 sized envelope you knew it was game over.
 
Does anyone know of an electrician that is within 1 hour to London that wants a job?
