So my friends gf wants me to find a replacement of the following battery:

SPS: 491278-001
GT: 6AQBA02BJXHGJ2
Series HSTNN-IB51

I have (I think) found it here: http://www.getpartsonline.com/491278-001.html

Now excluding shipping the cost in Rand is: US$ 44.99 = 316.109721 South African rands according to google.

Now what I want to know please is if it isn't possible to get this battery in SA somewhere? I have only found it here: http://partstore.co.za/products/SPS%2dBATTERY--6CELL-47W.html

But that is crazy overpriced don't you think?

Also will I have to pay any importing tax/duty fees ect if I buy that one from the USA??

I've never bought outside of the country before, so please help where you can. :)

I am pretty sure you will have to pay duties and vat.

I can also vouch for laptop accessories.co.za

What model of laptop does that battery come from? The DE battery looks very similar to the one in your 2nd link. The DE price includes free shipping to SA - I'm not sure about the exact VAT and duties charges but this would surely be well below R100? In the worst case scenario maybe you could repack the old battery with the cells from the DE one if there are any compatibility problems?

If it were me i'd be on ebay looking.
Far as i remember for HP they have 6 cell & longer lasting 12 cell batts if your friend wants more batt power.
Just search for the laptop model rather than the batt itself

So Laptop Accessories got back to me, they sell generic batteries only and Pamela quoted me the following: HSTNN-IB51 for R640

Any good? I've asked for shipping costs and warranty information if any.

That's not bad, about R70-100 more than having it repacked.

Takealot also offer an Amazon import service - it might also be worth checking what they can supply although it will be hard to beat that price. If you want the item don't wait as it might be a special offer and either disappear or increase in price in the next few days.
