In February 2015 I received a message from Telkom Mobile that my contract was due for an upgrade. I have decided to cancel the contract instead and went to the Rosbank Mall Telkom branch where I completed a cancellation form The consultant mentioned that it can take up to 21 days for the cancellation to occur. After 21 days I have contacted Telkom Mobile. The consultant on the helpline logged the call and mentioned that a consultant from the customer service department will call me. It never occurred. I have called the call centre numerous times over the past few months and every time I get the same story: the cancellation department will call me to confirm cancellation. On Wednesday 13 January 2016 I visited the Cresta Telkom branch. The consultant mentioned he could see that I have tried since February to cancel the contract. He logged a request and mentioned I will get a call from the cancellation department within 24hrs. This has not occurred. I have posted a complaint on Hello Peter. The Telkom Mobile Social Media team responded to say the Technical Team will contact me. This has not occurred. How can I get hold of someone in the cancellation department to cancel my contract seeing that logging requests do not work. I am frustrated HELP!!!!

If it is any consolation, I was in a very similar boat and managed to get mine cancelled after three months and who knows how many calls. They also refunded me some monies but only because I told them it is unacceptable for them to keep charging me after I requested a cancellation.

If you have record of the submission of the cancellation then put a stop on the debit order... that usually gets them to sort their shyte out.

My wife will be in the position to cancel her contract with them in April. What steps should we take?

If they don't cancel and we block their debit orders then is there a risk of her getting blacklisted?

Her contracts are for a tablet and a laptop. So the frustrating part for me is that the data that they gave almost never gets used. Wasting money.

If they "blacklist" you, you report it to the credit bureau with the relevant documentation that you applied for cancellation and that Telkom received it....

OK thanks. Wonder how long they would take to reverse something like that though.

The credit bureaus are usually very quick about it... since if they aren't you can make their lives difficult by reporting them to the NCR as far as I understand.
