8.5k sounds better, but damn man....
That is still a bucket load.

So far ... all I can see that is great is the web browsing that is awesome. And it has GPS...

The nice thing about the E90 GPS compared to the N95 is that E90 comes with Garmin maps, which include voice guidance and I think are much better than the Smart2Go,

I didn't know that- that's a pretty big deal. Do you know which chip (SIRF II or III) it uses? In any case, that's a big improvement- i'm starting to think that the GPS on the N95 is a joke, and that's primarily due to the pathetic maps application, and the fact that one has to pay a fee to get navigation - without which the whole thing is useless. Garmin is a dedicated GPS company, and i'm sure garmaps are a lot more polished than smart2go.

I wish that the E90 was more pocketable though, it's too big for jeans pockets.

Mine came with a 30 day trial version. I haven't really tried it yet. The UI is very confusing.

The Garmin Maps are on he Micro SD card that is included in the standard Nokia sales package.

The GPS doesn't need setup. It should work out of the box. Just let it run for a while.

Go outside first as Piesang suggested.
Try this.
Menu->Settings->General->Positioning->Positioning methods and make sure "Integrated GPS" is the only option ticked.

Now:
Menu->GPS->GPS data
You should get a message "Searching for GPS satelites" and then a message "GPS not available". Don't be fooled by this. Now select "Position" then Options->Satelite status. You should get a message "Retrieving data" and then a dialog "Satelite status:" and initially a message "(no satelite data available)". After a while (if it's the first time a few minutes) you should get a row of numbers with bars next to them. If the bars become solid you have a satelite lock. You will need at least three locks (I think) to determine your position.

I have been waiting for this phone since it came out, contacted Nokia who told me the phone will be released in June 07. called MTN, they had no idea... went to MTNSP in Morningside to book the phone. they told me they cant do that anymore, but still took down my details. I tried emailing them to find out when it would become available, to date no reply! called MTN, they told me at first phone would be available end of July due to "network testing" .Called end of July and they said middle August. Called again beginning of August then they said onyl end of August!!! ???
I then decided to call every single MTN connect store and low and behold some of the stores had already sold some of the E90's...I then asked all the stores if they could order. ONLY ONE STORE was able to get me the phone within 4 days. Blue Chip Cellular in Benoni, they also have a branch in Edenvale. they ordered 10 E90's and only got ONE, my one :)
I have now had it since thursday last week and am very happy with it. it takes some getting used to as i have not used a symbian phone for some time.... definately different to the K-Jam. the screen resolution is absolutely suberb, one can really surf the net now. this was not possible with the 2.8 inch k jam screen...just frustrating.
The Phone is very fast in all aspects. the only dislike is the keyboard allthough my fingers are probably too big :) but the keys are not seperated like on the k-Jam. I am sure i will still get used to it.
What a great phone! takes good images, GPS works well, allthough i dont use it as i have a Tom Tom.
My payin was R 2200.00 on the bigger talk packages. well worth it. can only recommend!! but be prepred to carry a biggish phone with you, due to the extremely good build quality, the phone is a little on the heavy side.
Compared to the HTC Advantage...I prefer the E90. My boss just purchased the HTC. this device can not be used as a phone!! (unless you speak hands free or with a BT earpiece)... but for viewing text docs its ok. it also as a very crisp screen and the keyboard is usable (at that size no wonder :)

I was doing a lot of bluetooth file sending to the E90 from my 6230 and noticed that the messaging app hangs , says it has received messages but wont display or open them.Only way to read the message is to restart the phone and then its supaquick again.

Then for some reason 4 days later it just came right , I flooded the common inbox with 20 bluetooth files and some mms and now its like there was nothing wrong.

Using the TaskMan taskmanager as the default along with BestProfiles profile manager , for web browsing I use Route 66 and now and then the default Nokia GPS bundled software.

I get 3 days of battery life , when not using mxit at night , vibrating mode can chow the battery but the usability of the phone is quite nice , even got the barcode reader to show me some useful stuff , see barcode reader pic here -> http://my-symbian.com/forum/download.php?id=4032

And barcode generator over here - > http://qrcode.kaywa.com/

Onlyl gripe is that is does'nt have delayed sms functionality as per 9300i as well as other shortcomings , however there is nothing on the market that can compete with its form factor and previous history in my humble opinion ( I had a 9300i for 1 day and gave it back for performance issues , this was last year , the E90 is miles ahead in everything )

However as with any new device there are shortcomings , I have signed up as a member on the www.my-symbian.com forums w.r.t E90 articles of which there are plenty , see -> http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=35 for articles of interest praising and bashing this new device.

Keep yourself informed and have an open mind if you do decide to go for it , a lot of old Communicator users on said forum is complaining of small things as well , seems Nokia disappointed a lot of loyal followers ...
