Increasing problem of blinding car headlights

not all cars have that functionality... I found that my Navara is upsetting a lot of people when Im towing or have something heavy on the back.
Your Navara should have a headlight levelling control that lets you adjust & tilt the beams downward when your vehicle is partially or fully loaded... or back up to normal level if there is no load ..

0 is for driver only
1 is for partial load (driver & front passenger)
2 is for medium load (driver, front & rear passengers)
3 is for fully loaded (driver, front & rear passengers & cargo / trailer)

That sounds very cool.

On the window
In general around the car. I imagine what’s happening is the camera for the cruise control etc is probably also used to “see” cars rear lights or oncoming lights somehow and it knows the position of the vehicle. Then it tells the high beam to turn off certain parts of the LED matrix to darken it. So you have a bright beam around the object.

I’ve noticed if the car in front has very weak/dirty rear lights at night it will shine the beam on it because it didn’t see it. But that’s usually very rare

Ha - you okes should come drive around with your LED/Xenon/Laser lights here in the Free State...
You haven't seen Brights like the ones the farmers have here - you can taste it.
Jirr, 3rd degree burns boss.

Honestly havent noticed it. Lights are brighter and more prominent but hardly blinding

Then you get the aftermarket LED lights the double cab idiots put on their cars... Oh and then there are the farmers..... And the guy who takes his bakkie "off road" once a year, the rest of the time he off road on the public roads.

I have given up driving at night, with all the idiots, driving on bright, their fog lights on, and the after market spot lights, the periods where I cannot see anything other than a sea of light, are too long. I generally know where the road is, but have no idea of what might be stepping of the roadside, and into my path.

Biggest problem is the height differential between SUV's and sedans.

Mine was stock standard but regularly had people flash me thinking my brights are on, then when I flash them back showing what my bright are actually capable of, they almost drive of the road.
I try to position my rear view mirror so that if reflects the light back into your face, but no one has confirmed yet if it works or not.

I think a lot of the roadworthy testing centres (Dekra) have bad setups. When I bought my car, they adjusted the headlights and people were constantly flashing me, so I had to go back.

A few years ago my dad was getting flashed almost every time he was on an open road, he realised the lights needed a bit of adjusting even though he did everything he could regarding adjustment, these were xenon lights on an Audi A4, factory fitted.

One day a techie at Audi took it back, did "something" and it was fine after that, and said they did have some issues with the xenons being a bit uncalibrated.

Perhaps this is also an issue on other brands.

The LED lights on my car can auto level according to the weight and it is much more clear than regular lights. Unfortunately no automatic headlight dimming.

I only experience a problem with people driving with their high beams on and if it was not fitted properly. I am sure these panel beaters give f about adjusting the lights.

Whatever the reason, I have given up on evening Braai's with the Kids and Family, taking my Wife out to a Resturant, going to a Flick at Movie House, etc.

Too many idiots driving around with lights setup to blind approaching traffic.

Just return the favor. Make it your mission in life. And keep on living.

For years, the "spot lights" on my Citi Golf, never worked, ( the small round lights in the grill - not after market ) my car went in for some work, and few weeks later, it became apparent that they did not work anymore, I have just had the damaged wires, and the relay that went "missing" replaced. It helps somewhat but the "competing lights" are still a magnitude brighter
