Is there any reason why these guys are so expensive? They seem to be insanely overpriced. Most of what I can buy from them I can buy elsewhere for hundreds of rands less. I went over there yesterday to buy new RAM and a new PSU for the office computer, but buying from them would have cost me anything from 15% - 50% more than elsewhere.

It's ridiculous. Do they target people who simply don't know any better and are willing to pay those prices?

yep they target people that does not know much about pc's etc.

there online specials is not badly priced sometimes .

Well it depends what city you in also like in PMB I would rather go to Incredible Connection than use Matrix Warehouse where as in a city with tons of options no one should go to it unless its for convenience.

It depends on what you buy

I bought a Samsung 22" LCD last year and it was pretty much the same as what Esquire wanted plus VAT. But in general yes they are really expensive

I got a logitech Wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo for R349 at Incredible Connection and CNA also has some nice specials on stuff, got a R300 Logitech PC Stereo headset for R150 :D.

Very good performance for the price I paid.

this^

and the convenience of the range they carry, makes them pretty much a one stop shop

I can't believe the BS I've heard their salespeople spin and the average joe soap just swallows it up

last year I watched one of their sales guys trying to sell the most expensive AV product they had as companion software for a new laptop that a woman was buying, I just chipped in that she could download MSE for free, the sales guy just looked at me dumbfounded :D

Incredible is well priced on displays and laptops due to bulk discounts they receive, I wouldnt buy anything else from them though.

I wouldnt buy a laptop from them after the stories I heard of the laptops being secondhand ones they reboxed.

Yup I don't even show my receipt at the door. It's hilarious when they try and chase you down and miss the next 73 customers.

They are not called Incredible Corruption for nothing.

However, I have found some (as in very few) of their prices to be competitive and sometimes even better but agreed, they are usually the last place on my list when shopping for computer related things.

I agree with the comments above re: Incredible Con
I wonder if any of their senior management read this forum and the the opinions that the buying public has of them

I also know the security people and cashiers so they pass me through quickly everytime before a salesperson gets even close trying to get commission from doing nothing :D.

In their defence:

1. The shops are normally in shopping centres (e.g. Sandton City) where the rentals make Incredible's prices look like a charity :)
2. They generally hold stock, i.e. not 'allow five working days for delivery'.
3. They are open seven days a week.

Their target market is the walk-by customer who (for example) wants a laptop.

Their target market is not the tech-savvy purchaser who is looking for the lowest price on a specific item.

That said, the pricing on their specials is normally pretty good, as is certain items.

Finally, I recently purchased an HP printer (on special) from them. As the result of a number of factors - mainly HP's - I couldn't complete the deal by the time the special was over. When I complained they found stock, transferred it to the shop most convenient to me - and kept the price.

I was very impressed !

I've had good experiences with them, buying a laptop, external harddrive, and various bits and pieces. I did my research and their prices were competitive. I wouldn't buy components like RAM etc from them though, they are overpriced in that regard.
I received really good support from them too though - well the one at the VA in Cape Town, anyway.

Agreed. Printers too. And in my experience, their after-sales service has been pretty good.

Except that if you're receipt isn't signed, it's not valid for exchanges or refunds if your product is faulty.

Bought an 8GB class 10 sd card yesterday.
Website says R149, they had it marked as R129 :)
