Installation allocation with openserve

Hi

What is the “free” allocated length of fibre from the box on the outside to the ONT inside with openserve installation.

In my last install the subcontractor wanted to scam me by saying it was only 1 metre and wanted to charge me more.

Also what is the price per metre beyond the allocation?

At the bottom it says: "Trenching over 8M will incur a fee of R180 per meter"

So I guess the first 8m is free. (Not sure how up to date it is.)

Afrihost and WebAfrica mention this under their "Installation & cabling " footnotes:

The installation fee includes cabling up to 30 metres. If your installation requires additional cabling, a site survey will be done, after which you will receive a quote from the applicable last-mile provider. Should you choose to proceed, you will be liable for any additional costs incurred. The additional cabling is directly payable to the applicable last-mile provider.

But like nmccullo commented above, on many other sites I still see the 8 meter limit being referenced.

At my place the overhead fibre was run to the point I indicated. pretty sure it was just over 30 m, 12 m pole to the house and then the rest in a duct that was 18 m+.
The installer did not measure anything. In any case, the two overhead loops on both ends plus the wastage on the inside must have been another 5 m at least.
Underground is another matter because it cost lots of effort to trench and lay pipes. The actual cable cost is trivial compared to the trenching costs.
