Installing a geyser timer

Op, do you trust yourself with this job. Will you place a pic after you have done this job.
Have you seen that video?
Did you see how easily he did it?
I am sure I can do that.

This stupid timer has 5 inputs compared to the 3 in the video.

Works for me, just downloaded a PDF document with the installation procedure from the Mantech website. I attached the document that I just downloaded.
Now this installation instruction is completely different from the one that came with the unit.

And it seems more clear to me now.

The link still doesn't work for me.

Can you explain?

Turning a geyser on and off is bad for it and chances are you will replace the element or geyser sooner than you need to. If you dial down the temperature and insulate the geyser it will cut itself off and keep warm longer anyway. With this timer if you use hot water at times you didn't expect to your geyser will get colder and use more energy to heat.

Insulating and temperature control are my next steps.

From my own experience switching the geyser off after 8pm and switching it on at 6am reduces my electricity bill by 3 times in winter.

Lol what do you think the thermostat does?

I sincerely hope the Major Tech MTD8 geyser timer is a good quality product or it will be costing you even more.
Make sure you keep a record of your purchase and note the date on the device with a sticker, that is if the Electrical Shop you bought it from hasn't already.

Geyser timers I have had flake out within the first 2 years of purchase, like the CBI Timers of which I have 2 faulty ones.
The one in my board at the moment is faulty. It keeps its program but if the power goes off it loses the time which means the program you set is worthless until you reprogram the time again.
Very frustrating as it means the cost of calling in the electrician to replace the unit plus its out of warranty so the cost of a new timer too.

This one has a built in rechargeable battery that will still keep the time during power loss.

how much hot water are you using O_O

insulation and temp control should be your first steps

I think they all do. My point was that something inside that controls the timer is faulty on the CBI units. Geyser timers may be inherently faulty things when it comes to fluctuating power and constant load shedding??

I used to have 2 geysers running, one for the bathroom and the other for the kitchen and washroom.

After bridging the plumbing on the 2 geysers and adding 3 stop cocks I can now use either geyser, both together if need be, or each one separately as I used to have them.
Added the timers on to my board and only use one geyser now for the whole house for a total of 5 hours a day.
These are the settings that suit our needs:
06h30 to 08h30
10h30 to 11h00
15h00 to 15h30
17h00 to 19h00

This pdf has live on 2 and neutral on 1, but the instructions that came with the timer have live on 1 and neutral on 2.

Which is correct?
