Now isnt this weird.... we have had ADSL in the past and are currently on Wireless atm, but now because my parents work says they want us to have ADSL instead of wireless for some or other reason we must have it installed again...

Now here comes the catch.. 2-6 weeks to "install" it again meanwhile our line is still here and all they have to do is friggin flick a switch.......

Does anyone know anyway of speeding up this process because if u ask me that is a load of bull :/

cheers

The line isnt the issue - it can come in over any phone line. A dslam needs needs to be allocated and various switched need to be flipped. In the real world 2-3 days - which translates to 2-6 weeks SA time.

Opt for the self install since its a reconnection and keep an eye on the little green light. ;)

Apparently they gotta slot a card into the DSLAM ports, which then connects u to it~ Thats how the tech described it to me anyways.
So maybe they took that little card or whatever it is out? So now they gotta some install it again~ and if they really wanna do it, it takes a tech about 5min to open up the box, find ur "port", stick something in and then THERE! activated~ But that does happen unless u're in a good area
9if there is one)

lol.... i got one of them little telkom boxed RIGHT outside my house and a exchange like 1 street away... lol

a friend had to move house and now moving back to their old place. The old place had adsl and they moved it to the other house. Now they want to move it back. Taken 8 weeks and no sign of telkom techies...that shows how great bureaucracy works with our country.

just got a call 2day that a techie will phone within 11 days to tell us when hes coming...

not bad i suppose..

Uhm yeah, you might want to phone HIM. I've been told numerous amounts of times that "we will get back to you in 2 days" and i've recieved no friggin calls. GRR

applied last month 24th, Dam* telkom still 'busy' with their DSLAM upgrade at rosebank I suppose, also had a box outside my house but......
