HA HA HA HA! the chances of Nvidia and Intel getting together are so low! Nvidia literally hates intel...
just look at the hits off this :Link

It really would be insane if they buddy together... however, a blow like that could destroy amd, and that's the end to low(ish) cpu/gpu prices

I don't really know the love/hate relationship... I do however find it odd that the Intel chipset only supports AMD's crossfire technology... I would have thought that it should support both Crossfire & SLI to give both a fighting chance! So much for being competitors...

well, that does somewhat sum up the intel vs nvidia feud that wages on...
Also, if mobo manufactures want to have an intel chipset, and sli support, they gonna have to pay nvidia for the sli chips(at a premium of course)...

However, it's interesting to note that AMD and Nvidia have always been rather close, and AMD buying out ati was a bit of a stab at nividia...

but, it seems amd and nvidia might band together to get rid of the common evil(intel :D):p

Actually, the fact that Larrabee will only be out in 2010 was only announced a few days ago. Up until then it was expected next year.

And Nvidia's GTX is more expensive than ATi's 4000 series everywhere in the world, not just here. In the USA the 280GTX retails for around 430 dollars, where as the HD4870 is about 260.

Sli and crossfire is supported on the new X58 chipset.

Article form the 4th of August:

"The first product based on Larrabee will target the personal computer graphics market and is expected in 2010. Larrabee will be the industry's first many-core x86 Intel architecture, meaning it will be based on an array of many processors. The individual processors are similar to the Intel processors that power the Internet and the laptops, PCs and servers that access and network to it. "

They actually did try to buy nVidia first, but they didn't want to be bought. So amd went for ati.

The 280 is better than the 4870 dumbass. so it isn't a comparison.

4870 1GB counterpart is a Nvidia 260 216.

Asus 4870 1GB = $289 (newegg.com)
EVGA 260 216 = $249 (tigerdirect.com)

*tigerdirects cheapest 4870 1GB is $309

Do some research before you talk a load of rubbish.

Lets see what Tom and HOCP haveta say and how they compare with whatever nVidia and AMD/ATi will have ready by then.
 
It will be a wait and see game. more competition better products
 
you know what, nividia aint making much cash off the gtx2x0 ranged because the chips are so big and expensive... IF AMD felt that they needed to compete more, they could drop the price of their chips really fast...
 
Soon they will have their GPU as another core on the CPU.

Another case of : If you want to know what intel will do 2 years from now, look at what AMD is doing now.

It doesn't need the nforce chip. what the manufacturers do is send the board to nvidia they patch the bios then it's activated. Out of the EVGA,Asus, MSI and Intel board it is only the Intel board that doesn't support it. That's why it's also $40 less.
 
This might be a real pain for S3, SiS and maybe even Matrox. I hope Larrabee wont be too much of a power hog or produce much heat.

AMD wanted to buy a gfx maker because intel has the biggest market share in the graphics environment. AMD is also the type of company that develops and tries new things (that intel copies) and AMD has long dreamed of putting the GPU on the CPU, so now they have the GPU expertise to do that.
